spudcooper 0
I Like Many Of Us Tend To Use The Same Songs At Every Gig And I Am Looking For Ideas Of New Songs To Play To Vary My Show So Its Not The Same All The Time And To Keep Myself Entertained. So What I Want To Know Is What Are Your Most Played Songs? I Always Tend To Play Stuff Like Party People-Build Me Up Buttercup, Proclaimers-500miles, And I Am The One And Only. I Would Love Some New Ideas.
DJ Marky Marc 0
Best way to do this is tag along with some of the other forum members at there gigs... <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
EdBray 0
Not much point in coming out with me though, I play much the same stuff unless I'm given a playlist of specific tracks or artists or asked to play specific genres or types of music. Last night I was specifically asked to play indie and current pop tracks for the first hour and a half (until after the buffet) and then a mixture of normal party songs assorted 60s to 00s (cheese type tracks) until the end. Norfolk DJ 0
Starting playing clock - 'oh what a night again' recently (thanks tonsk) seems popular. Billy Ocean - 'Love really hurts without you' always a winner unless crowd is very young. Steps 5,6,7,8 still frequently requested. Edwin starr 'HAPPY Radio' - goes down well. During warm-up I like Ace of Base 'always have, always will' & R Kelly 'Happy People' 80's apart from the ususal stuff, if the crowd are up for it, Yazoo 'don't go' is very popular. Mobile DJ magazine published their top 20/30 dance floor tracks last year as per function dj's. no suprises with the content,
DJ Ben 0
Yazz - The Only Way Is Up Works well in a 90's set, with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Co, C&C Music Factory, D:Ream etc (But that's not too obscure). I've just started playing 5ive again, and it works amazingly well! Let's Dance Keep on Movin' 5ive Megamix Ben
andyw 0
why dont you just change a few individual tracks in your sets,ie when doing a 70's set instead of playing blockbuster by sweet play little willy. instead of dancing queen by abba play gimme gimme, unless the artist is a 1 hit wonder there's at least 2 or 3 different songs from each artist you could play, just needs a bit of thought on our part and to be brave enough not always to play the obvious one(leave that one for me to play :bouncy: )
Andy Westcott 0
Quote Eddie: "Not much point in coming out with me though, I play much the same stuff" Ahh, it might be the same old stuff to you, but could be quite different from another DJ's idea of 'the same stuff'. smile icon I enjoy seeing another DJ at work for exactly this reason, and must try to do it more often. TonyB 0
James & Ian very kindly posted lists of their top requested tracks which may be helpful. The threads are at http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=15409&hl= http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=15263&hl=
Paul Smith 0
So far we have interviewed over 60 members on DJU and each of them has provided their 3 dancefloor fillers. Ok some will be duplicated, some will be what you currently play but there might be a few 'new' ones. At one time I also compiled the DJU top 20, based on the interviews and members votes so if you have time on your hands the answers' in here (somewhere)
EdBray 0
Another good source of tracks are the No 1s threads on this forum see here and also do a search for floorfillers using the facility at the top of the page. jamesmurphy 0
Recently some tracks that have worked really well for me are David Bowie - Let's Dance Communards - Never can say goodbye Barry White - Let the music play Hope this helps
Paull 0
If each function is different, surely the music played should be different?. I played 14 21st Birtrhdays last year and each was different some quite substantially so. The same with the 40th's I did, one was a Cheesefest while another was all Dance and House. Weddings from my experience seem to be the most similar in the type of music requested www.spectrumdisco-dj.co.uk
deanward80 0
Wheras every function tends to be different i still have a few songs that i play at most gig's and they are the usual cheese classics like the YMC, cha cha slide, time warp etc... even when i think they wont work i get a request for one and everyone goes mad for it!! deano www.bouncediscos.co.uk
Hugmaster 0
Hi OK, here's what tends to work it's way into my list more often than others... 60s... Monkeez, I'm a believer Beatles, she loves you rolling Stones, honkey tonk woman. 70s... Earth Wind and fire, September/boogie wonderland Wild Cherry, Play that funky music blondie, heart of Glass 80s... KC and the Sunshine Band, Give it up. Jermain Stewart, We don't have to. Adam Ant, Goody two shoes Kenny Logins, Footloose. 90s... Livin' Joy, Dreamer. Bucketheads, The bomb. Take That, relight my fire/never forget. Steps, Tragedy. I like to swap and change a lot though because I think if you're fed up with the msuic you play week in week out, that affects your attitude whether you like it or not. FrankieJ 0
From time to time when I have an younger crowd I stick on tracks like: Rebel MC Bucketheads - The Bomb Corona - baby baby Montel Jordan - This is how we do it Nightcrawlers - Push The feeling on Prodigy - Out Of Space SL2 - On a Ragga Tip These tracks go down a storm.
