Paul Smith 0
Some of the web sites I'm listed on and/or have a link exchange with also allow the opportunity to display a banner (about the same size as the DJU avatar). So I've spent a little time trying to come up with a new one. Here's my 1st go: http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/avatarforDJU.jpg I'm not exactly artistic and also not 100% sure if this attempt will persuade people to click on it  So opinions as to overall look, layout, font, colour, content would be great - thanks. Edit: I've been experimenting and here's some more ideas: http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/sqbuttonturq.jpg http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/sqbuttonorange.jpg http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/sqbuttongreen.jpg Edited January 23, 2007 by Paul_Smith
Mattaious 0
Looks good to me. What program have you used to make those? Fancy a job for Eclipse?? :dan+ju:
Paul Smith 0
I had to use 2 programs Xara 3D to create the buttons and then export it into Photoshop to add the text. The reason for this was because I could only get Xara to give me one text colour for the whole lot (unless someone knows different).
ian . 0
Something different? http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k110/muzique_2006/cooltext42329075.jpg <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

Andy Westcott 0
My opinion, if anyone wants it: I think that as a banner it is too big. If I was on the receiving end, I'd appreciate a lower profile one than this, less than half the height for that width. Maybe do up a choice of banners in different shapes rather than colours? Also, I reckon the image should have been a .gif image, not .jpg as this would have possibly allowed the text to appear sharper.
Paul Smith 0
My opinion, if anyone wants it: Of course we do smile icon On the subject of size - some sites where I need to update my banner specify the dimensions and they have to be exact too. This is why the samples are square rather than rect. I did think that there were too many colours to save it as a Gif  but I'll give it a go. Iany thanks for the sample - again the size has to be more square. Edited January 30, 2007 by Paul_Smith
Andy Westcott 0
Gif supports up to 256 colours, and will probably go unnoticed. Jpg creates 'artifacts' on the image where you have sharp detail boundaries, such as text, and can degrade the image. Give it a go. smile icon
asest 0
I quite like the purple one you've done! I must get hold of a copy of Photoshop, I'm guessing though that you mainly used Xara 3D to create it if you say you added the text on photoshop? Certainly works out better than mine, i had to go through printing off from word, scanning to make it '1' image, then editing in HP Photo & editing to try to get it to a reasonable standard. Am I right that any image can be used as a banner? Do the other websites need to sort out the html text? or is it something that should be supplied with a banner?
Andy Westcott 0
I'd suggest the HTML should be supplied with the banner, as not many people know how to code it correctly.
asest 0
I'm one of them!! lol I'm yet to try it elsewhere, but I'm asuming the HTML i was supplied for my banner on here would be correct to use? actually another forum informed me that if I need to, it is probably possible to acquire HTML from google. asest 0
Those logo's all look great! :nbow: Think I may have to purchase myself a decent photo software and review my own logo. Need to make some money 1st. lol
Paul Smith 0
The great thing about the web and banners etc is that it doesn't cost much (if anything) to promote your service. My current avatar was produced using software that cost me £11 (from the originators I might add) and a bit of time experimenting. I have since put a similar banner on several sites that link to me all for £11 - or 4 pints at your local. Now tell me that you need money 1st to promote yourself
Steve_Mitchell 0
They all look good Paul. You could also add to it, Liverpool Fc 5 times European cup winners. :hide: Steve 5 European cups and 18 leagues, that`s what we call history.
