If you are too cheap, you don't get the call, if you are too expensive you don't get the call, no prices, and let the punter call you, once you are talking you can convert about 95% of them, at least that is my policy.

.....but what do I know ?

Agreed!

I think if (for arguments sake) you had a price of say £200.00 for a 'standard' (whatever that is) Disco and someone thinks that it is too expensive, they'll simply use that as a figure for the next enquiry that may make and all the next company has to do is undercut it.

Never bothered in the past but then i popped them on as i thought it would be a good way to sieve the enquires as those who dont like your prices can move on to the next site without phoning and haggling!.

Although i think i may just nip on and whip the price page off, i dont think there is a right/wrong way no one knows your business better then yourself!

Interesting discussion.

I've recently placed a price guide on my site in order to satisfy the window shoppers, and am of the opinion that if they are looking for a cheaper price elsewhere and are prepared to shop around for it, then I've lost them anyhow. Nothing lost there, and I don't get what would amount to a time-wasting e-mail.

This is one of those areas where there's no right or wrong way. It depends on what you want your web site to achieve, who you want to aim it at and your market.

Personally I'm in the 'No' camp but I know several DJs who do display their prices and it works for them.

The one thing that I would add is if you don't advertise your prices then don't have a link marked 'Prices' either. This may seem obvious but a lot of people do it.

Yes, but.....

You need to be able to tell a potential customer what they'd be paying for - what makes you better than a dodgy disco type etc.

That's what my 'cost' page does.

I'm another who wouldn't put prices on my site.

Far better to 'sweet-talk' them on the phone.

That sounds dodgy in itself and creepy. ;thumbdown:

Only if your mind works that way.

What I meant was to 'sell yourself' on the phone.

Better? :joe:

I see. I understand now.

I hardly dare ask, but.... what on earth did you think I meant? :scared:

Sweet-talking someone on the phone.... 'Hi, what you wearing? Hmmm. you sound nice. You want to book a disco?' :scared: tongue out icon
