The Royal Hotel (sutton Coldfield)

Recommended Posts

Yes Nik, many years ago, basically an average pub sized room. Not massive, can get a bit boystrous. When I was there the access was off the side road if I remember correctly, but it was some time ago.

It's Northern, I don't do Northern anymore, I'm not brave enough. Plus its too close to Kinky and I'd have to meet him again, and I don't like him !

.....but what do I know ?

Nik, I am at Bescot Stadium (Bonser Suite) doing the Beacon Ball on Friday, so can't make it. have a good one.

New Hall hotel: Two choices. One is a small function room which is about 18 feet square, has no bar and is a bit isolated. Minimum gear needed. Then the other is a marquee "round the back". Both a bit awkward acess wise. Never done the Marquee.

This is where all the top pop stars stay (Robbie, Stones etc etc) and their photo's are on the walls. Was £4.50 for a can of Carling last time I went there!!! Has a moat running round it.

Thanks for the pointers Kingy, I expect its in the marquee which is good as I don't like seperate bars. Sounds like a "bring a bottle of pop" gig then, if drinks are that price!

I was at Bescot in March, think it was the Savoy Lounge I played it, upstairs with a lift.. massive room but only a tiny dancefloor at the front. Nice starcloth on the back of the stage though! The worst thing about that gig was the journey there, nice and easy drive I thought, but it ended up taking 2 hours due to traffic at the M5/M6 interchange, I'd given myself plenty of time though. Only took 50 mins on the way back!

I have played at New Hall Hotel a few times and its normally in the Marquee round the back. Pain in the backside to get your gear in and out as you have a decent walk from the nearest car park. Other alternative is to talk nicely to one of the porters who sometimes carry your gear back and forth in a golfing buggy!!!!!

and yes the drinks are stupidly expensive and the staff can be a bit aloof and full of themselves sometimes!!
