And if anyone wants a natter (or a beer) come and see myself manning the DJ Show North stand at the NADJ Show. To obviously discuss the forthcoming DJ Show North event.

Hi Marky

Do you have to pay to join and if so what do they do for you???

A West Mids branch should be coming soon... Theres a few of us that have been going across the to South Wales meetings, and the benefits are all on the website, cheap PLI, discounted kit insurance etc. plus networking and workshops etc. at branch meetings..

Come along on 29th and you'll get to see what NADJ are all about!

Oh.. and its only £45 i think to join, but if you get PLI at the same time there's an offer...

This may answer your question .........

12a) DJ's United allows members to link to their own/retailer/association/event Websites in their profiles and signatures (provided those websites comply with the contents of this Code of Conduct) and to have their websites reviewed in the relevant section. If you do link to your website then you are also required to provide a return link back to us. Banner and text links are available for this purpose. Random & periodic checks will be made by the Admin/Moderating team. Any link from this forum that is not supported by a reciprocal back-link will be removed without notice.

So whats the £45 quid for? Do you get the PLI in that price or is it more money on top of that... What does this organisation do for DJs such as campaigning for their Rights etc do they offer legal support for disputes with clients non payment etc....

How many branches are there over the UK if there is not one in the Second or third city in the UK...

I also find it interesting that they do not offer a link to this site that must surely be one of the best (if not the best) DJ forum in the UK.... Why infact is DJU even allowing this event to be promoted by an organisation that does not do it the courtesy of giving it a link on its site...

I am just trying to find out what you get for being a member... I can already network (Im doing it right now with you reader) I can negotiate discounts on items myself....

Should I start this in another thread as I think I may have Hi jacked this one sorry :hide:

Nick.. branches are setup by just gathering enough local interest, its not that the NADJ just pick cities and form a branch. Anyway like i say.. watch this space..

The NADJ have been approached privately regarding this matter - we await a reply from them so I think this part of your question should be left for now smile icon

just going back to the original topic if any one is going you will find out more info when you are there

So are you a member guinnessman42 why cant anyone give some answers I might go if I think its worth it...

But I got all the kit I need at the mo so what else goes on there... I am starting to think that this might not be such a good association to join if I cant get any answers as a potential new member ie before they get there hands on my 45 quid what chance have i got with there after sales service as it were.. Mind you I still dont know what im getting for my £45.... Help I truly want to know?????

Are there others on here who have not joined but might if they knew what it was all about... Dont be the silent few if more people ask the more we will know even if there is no reply from them that in its self is an answer...

Must add I did have a PM from some one called Nedd on this but still only about things like trade show etc... I find it interesting he has been a DJU member since 10th Feb 2006 but only made 70 posts... Surely as a rep for DJU he should be making more posts getting involved with the flock so to speak.. I have only been a member since 5th June 2006 (bet it seems longer than that uh C.S. ;-) )and made 767 posts... Mind you im a gobby git

Sorry to guinnessman42 as he says is anyone going???

Also in my PM I gave you the url for the NADJ Website. Sorry you feel that I don't contribute much here, but this is only one of many forums, and I do have a life! Between the 6 forums that I contribute to I have 7000+ posts over the last few years

Not a knock as such but i just thought if your something to do with the nadj then maybe you should post more .... Just a side point you say you contribute to forums with 7000+ Posts how come you only have posted around 70 on the best site DJU tongue out icon

But still waiting for answers to my questions above.... Sorry but I am thinking being a member of NADJ is a total waste of time and money... Can you prove other wise??????

Posting on a forum is not a guaranteed way to get a response from someone as it may not members of the NADJ committee; we would welcome your comments and will answer them promptly if they are made directly to us.

I personally would not expect to ask a question about a third party on a forum and have an answer direct, like Nedd I read numerous forums and can only comment if I read a question.

Most people are aware of NADJ we all post on various forums and we always have articles in Pro Mobile and we have our own forum.

If the show is local pop along it will only cost you five pounds or three pounds if you pre register. Even if you don't need any new kit there is a lot to see, and I am sure you will catch up with people you know including Gary from this forum who will be staffing the Denon stand

Until such time as we have a banner in place pointing back to DJ's united we are not able to promote the benefits of joining NADJ. The banner will be put in place shortly.

If you are interested in joining NADJ and would like further information you can contact me.

Kind Regards

Nathan Fleming

Access to £10million PLI Policy - Wow thats good £10 million for just £45 pound is that per year...?

Free subscription to ProMobile Magazine - How much is this to buy normaly?

Flyers & Advertising Materials - Is this as in free business cards etc to promote my buisness and events thats cool... And is this to promote my disco or promote the NADJ..?

Regular organised meetings with other DJs, providing Training, insight into new products, networking opportunities etc. - I do this already - eg this forum.

Enhanced listing on UK Disco - Enhanced listing on UK Disco site, Thats great so will i be guaranteed the top slot or will i have to pay more for that honour..?

Discounted Discoguard Equipment Insurance - How much is the discount?

Free entrance to Annual Tradeshow - Does this mean free entry to plaza, cool...

Discount on Mastermix & DMC Products - Dont use their products but if i did, how much is the discount off the rrp?

Free access to the NADJ Forum - So you have to pay if your not a member bit harsh that isnt it...?

Coming soon:

Free Legal advice helpline - this is good, but when? Other organisations provide this, help chase up bad payers when you need. Will you be offering say a physical person to be present during legal proceedings?

We are also involved in the Licenced workin Party, negotiating the new Digital DJ Licence, and are presently in negotiation with the DTI re accreditation of our code of Conduct. - How much will this be and are you the ones to contact to purchase this licence.. Also how many members does the NADJ have and if less than say 1000 spread accross the UK, is this really a representation of what all DJs want..? What is the benefit out of your negotiation with DTI?

You should of course be asking, "What can I do for NADJ?" rather than what can it do for me! - Oh no! When I am being paid by a client I ask what can I do for you... But when I am Paying I always ask What can you do for me for the money.

Many thanks Nedd for taking the time to send me the above details.. sorry to ask so many questions but I am finding this interesting as I am sure many of the regular contributers to this site are also...

Shame it took so many requests for info to get this far though and still some way to go before I possibly part with my £45.

I had a look online and found this click me it makes very interesting reading.

Flyers & Advertising Materials - Is this as in free business cards etc to promote my buisness and events thats cool... Discounted Discoguard Equipment Insurance - How much is the discount? 10%

Free Legal advice helpline - this is good but when... soon Hence the title " Coming soon"

When the licensing authorities pull their fingers out.

Also how many members does the NADJ have and if less than say 1000 spread accross the UK is this really a representation of what all DJs want.. Membership is at the moment about 200 - we are a fledgling organisation, now growing quickly through the new Branch System

You should of course be asking, "What can I do for NADJ?" rather than what can it do for me! - Oh no When I am being paid I ask what can I do for you... But when I am Paying I always say What are you doing for me... How much more do you expect for £1! per week

Many thanks Nedd for taking the time to send me the above details.. sorry to ask so many questions but I am finding this interesting as I am sure many of the regular contributers to this site are also...

I'm sure most contributors are already well aware of NADJ

Shame it took so many requests for info to get this far though - Sorry, as stated previously - I have a life - but it doesn't take a great deal of finding out - just google National association of DJs

I had a look online and found this click me it makes very interesting reading. Yes very interesting 30 years ago there was a previous organisation called NADJ -nothing to do with todays organisation which evolved out of the old Thames Valley Disco Association
