A couple of weeks ago, The Sunday Times published its Rich List of the thousand wealthiest people in Britain.

To get onto the list - in other words, to make it to position one thousand - you had to be worth at least £80 million.

Many on the list are Entrepreneurs. They own their own business.

Here's the interesting thing......

You have something in common with every single Entrepreneur on that list.

Here's what you have in common with them.

At some point, they were exactly where you are now.

Whether you're comfortably running a growing business or ignoring the overdraft letters from the bank - every single Entrepreneur (apart from inherited wealth) starts from zero.

So at some point, they were all where you are now.

Good luck.

.....but what do I know ?

As I said be for Andy me old mucker, you will never make your millions in the mobile disco buisness hence the PAT testing company eh!!!

I love reading the rich list and finding out how these folks make there millions, the best book I have read was Duncan Bannatyne (The Dragons Den) autobiography, now this is a brave man when it comes to taking risks but a verrrrrrry clever man.

DJ Frankie Knuckles.

Why not? I'm sure it's possible. If I were to sell groceries from a van for instance, I could not dream of making millions, but imagine I developped my business and had a large number of stores in the country?

But wouldn't you prefer to stay in DJing? Groceries don't have the same buzz.

You would have to be a agent though as i am not sure but i do not think people will pay you £40000 per disco so you might end up moving to far away. Mind you i am not in this business for the money as there are things out there that would make me more money faster just that i love doing it.

The question is would you still do this if you were that rich i think that i would but i would send stupid money on the equipment and have someone setup for me

WHO!?!!!

Pete Tong, Carl Cox are DJ's that once were mobiles!

Although I was thinking more along the lines of a national company running DJ's nationwide. In theory it's possible.

Good read

You only need a minimum of 334 reliable DJs to start off with.

A focused Mobile DJ business could turnover 1m but it would take trust, honesty and loyalty on the part of the DJs.

Peter Kay was a mobile jock for a while, but according to Chris Moyles autobiography he always did radio i.e Topshop and radio luxemburg...

Still dont beileve you can make millions as a mobile dj wheter its a large DJ company or not uless you are an agent to a superstar DJ

DJ Frankie Knuckles.

this is typical of the must have culture which has surfaced over the past decade, compared to some people in the world you are already millionaires and the subject of their envy. Stop for a moment and appreciate what you have already got and quit worrying about trying to be one step ahead financially than the next person because in worrying less about money and material things, statistics prove that whilst the ex-stressed former business gurus are pushing up daisies, you'll be watching your great grandchildren grow up, and can anybody put a price on that??. I'm sure that given the choice your families would welcome your time and your company more than the cash that you will leave them.

That is my point, could it be argued that his lifestyle contributed to his early demise?

There are a number of factors why the mobile DJ won't make millions although it would be naive of us to believe that it will never happen. smile icon

The same thing was said about builders - it happened and the same about plumbers - it happened!

All we have to do is turnover a little more than £20,000 each per week and I'm sure it can be achieved!!!!

Agree with above..

Also the only way you can become a millionaire as a rule is to work or run something that earns you money while your not there... As a sole mobile DJ you have to be there... So work out what is the maximum you can charge and times it by the maximum you would work in a year (Be Honest) and this is the maximum you could earn in a year as a mobile... and thats before Tax expenses etc... We all need to generate money from other sources without requiring us to be there to become millionaires lol!

EXAMPLE

Say you charge £300 per gig and you work 5 gigs per week thats £1500 then X it by 52 = £7800 is the max you could earn but Tax and running costs to come of that..

This is just a basic example and bookings are seasonal etc...

But.. if you can have several rigs out with different operators on any one night, then thats where you can make more money. When paperwork becomes too much to keep on top of, you hire a receptionist etc. before you know if you'll be able to do 20 gigs on one night throughout the whole of the UK tongue out icon

OK. i over simplify it, but there's no reason why it isn't possible, given time...

you can make millions out of doing mobiles,i've been to ads towers. :bouncy:

on a serious note it's not where you are now it's the opportunities that it can create for you(and you create for yourself)sometimes it just falls in your lap but most of the time you have to have a goal and work hard to get it.you dont have to be ruthless or greedy to have a goal in life.from a bussiness point of view you need a direction and tobe continously moving forward or your show will become stale.so having a target of where do i want to be in xx amount of years isnt a bad thing , you might want to be where you are now but you got to work and have a plan to stay there.

NiK your maths is off a bit :D £1500 x 52 weeks is £78,000 tho i would work it out over 48, giving yourself 4 weeks off a year. That would be £72,000... which i think is doable(sp) with a lot of hard work.

oooppss sorry missed a 0 off lol...

All it is designed to do is show you your maximum earning potential as a DJ you could do it for 7 days a week it just shows how far short of a million you would be lol....

As I say you need something to make you money while your not there that can be replocated many times...

for example if someting earned you £300 a time 5 times a week but you had 20 of them doing it then thats a lot more dosh.... £1560000 but as you cant be in 20 places at one time....

Tong's essential selection is not recorded, it is live every Friday. We managed to get a shot for Houseproud a few weeks ago 'live'!

These guys are very successful, they are masters of their art, and know their niche product extensively.
