40th party this evening 60's, 70's and cheese, my favourite sort of gig. Clients are having a barbecue first. Was hoping the weather wouldn't be so good this evening as I expect most of the guests will want to be outside. Will have to use my wit and charm to keep them on the dance floor smile icon

Tonight - R&B party for me (Urgh!!) with a complete playlist given to me.

Not my favourite type of gig, but as it's for a friend and they are paying me to do, I shall go and do my best:)

Friday was my youngest sons 21st. Had to do the disco myself as I wouldn't wish to inflict one of our family functions on any DJ. None of our family dance, and my son informed me that none of his friends dance. But at least it's not so bad when you know in advance that no one is going to dance.

Quite a good night though, he and some of his mates entertained us for an hour playing guitars and singing. Worst part was having to put so much gear in to cater for them, (4 guitars and 2 mics on stands), and then having to break down at the end of the night on my own as he was obviously well oiled by then.

Saturday night was a Rugby presentation night. Nice easy job with background music till the presentations at 9:30, then party from 10:30 till midnight. Even had a couple of dancers through the buffet, which is something I've not had for quite a while.

It just feels like it.

Had to play nearly all of Black Lace's greatest hits on saturday. Thought the HD 2500 would burst into flames when I played the "Birdie Song"!!!

And, wait for it.....FIRST TIP IN MONTHS......£20!!!! so perhaps that compensates for Agadoo, Superman etc.

Saturday, had a 21st in a very very posh mansion in Surrey thanks to Marc, music list required a bit of urban, a bit of dance, and party music. Setup at 5pm, then waited till about 10 to start after cocktails, meal etc... Were due to finish at 1am, but it was going so well that we eventually finished at 2:15am. Got home at 4:15am :scared:

Music wise was really satisfying, played a load of current dance, RnB, party stuff, and finished on a little DnB set

The theme was Film Stars, and there were plenty of good efforts including the mum who dressed up as Mrs Shrek :nbow:

As the 21st was for a girl, did that thing our NZ friend does - got the young lady seated, and got all the blokes to serenade her with the Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody. She loved it

Roadie/support services were provided by our very own RichardP, many thanks

The downside was that I has non stop hay fever, but the enjoyment made up for it.

We had very little space to setup in, so I was tucked in a corner with one Bose L1, and put the other L1 in the other corner along with 4 LED PAR56's on a tripod. Stuck 2 moving heads on the floor, et voila!

Today, just chilled at a family festival nearby.

All in all, wicked weekend.

Saturday night turned out much better than expected despite the bbq and my fears that guests would prefer to be outside because the weather was so nice. Dance floor was pretty full all the time from when we kicked off at 7.30. Twins who's 40th it was were very pleased and I got thanked over the mic. Got a nice tip too as well as giving out a few business cards.

Probably the amount of drink flowing helped and I was persuaded to play one more slow dance (Angels) after the final track (New York, New York). Playlist was:

You didn't drink quantities of Red Bull too?

That would be John McClane territory. :D
