Paul Smith 0
Want to know more about new member Mr P - read on ..... 1. What is your DJU Forum Alias? Mr P 2. What is your Real Name, Age, Location & Marital Status? Christopher Parker, 33, West Bromwich, West Midlands, Maried with a 3 year old little boy named Lewis 3. What is the Name of your Disco? Mr P's Roadshow 4. How long have you been a DJ? 15 years 5. What inspired you to become a DJ? A good friend of mine Rhino (Rhino Roadshow) DJ for over 30 years!!!! 6. Are you a Full/Part Time DJ? If part time what else do you do? Part time - day job is Administravtive Office Manager for local NHS 7. What is your favourite type of function now? (eg: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, etc) Weddings 8. What’s the worst/most embarrassing thing you've done in front of an audience? Doing 2 weddings in one day, one of an afternoon and one of the evening in the same venue - got the names of the bride and groom mixed up on the evening disco!!! 9. If you could go back to the beginning of your DJ career is there anything that you'd do differently? (eg: The gear that you bought, the way you promoted/advertised yourself) Definately promotion! and not charging people enough 10. What do you feel you offer the public that convinces them to book you rather than "the next guy/girl"? My mix of music and playing the sounds people want to hear 11. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadn't? and why? A Martin Voyager light off Ebay!!!!!! 12. What's your next DJ purchase likely to be? New Peavey Scorpion speakers 13. If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be? Some sort of power pack so that you do not have wires everywhere, and you would not have that little man who lives inside the wires case mixing them up when you have packed them away cause guaranteed no matter how neat you roll them etc they are always tangled next time you get them out!!! 14. What was the worst equipment failure suffered during a gig? Horns tripping on my Peavey Hisys 2's, had to play last 2 hours with just mids!! found out the next day that Peavey put 12w bulbs inside their cabs to prevent serious damage and you just have to change them! 15. What do you think is the best thing about DJing? The butterflies that you get before a gig of not knowing how the night is going to go - and seeing the dancefloor full - there is no better feeling than knowing you are in control of all of those people dancing! 16. What do you think is the worst thing about DJing? When you have asked for requests for the first few hours then you go into a set and you get someone comes up and ask for a song that you know will clear the dancefloor 17. What would make you stop DJing (if anything)? When I do not get the butterflies before a gig 18. How do you think DJing will change, in the next 5 years? Well CD's are going the same way as vinyl - I think everyone will be using Pc's etc.. 19. Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig? 'Av you got any rave mate'??????? 20. Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ? Don't ever panic or let things get to you - music is the one thing we all have in common whether it be the same types or not - we all listen ! 21. And worst advice you were ever given? If you have a request and know you don't have it say you will play it later in hope they will forget! 22. How do you keep up to date with music? (eg Promo monthly CDs, Downloads, Purchase from retailer) Mainly downloads and watching Satellite music for the upcoming hits oh and Mastermix! 23. Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill the dance floor for you! Billy Ocean - Love Really Hurts Without You The O'Jays - Love Train Village People - you guessed it - YMCA!!!! - cheesy I know 24. One piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting out. Listen to what people want to hear - when someone books a gig ask them for a request list before hand 25. What medium format do you mainly use eg vinyl, CD, hard-drive? Hard-drive 26. Have you embraced/adapted any ideas that you've read about on DJU - if so what? Only just become a member so too soon! 27. What is your best gig ever and your worst? Best gig - got a few, would not be fair to choose Worst Gig - an 18th b'day where a girl never sent invitations, just asked her friends and by 9.00pm all that was there was the girl and her mom, dad, auntie and uncle - you guessed it, I had an early night! 28.
