jeffwall 0
Great machine, loads memory, running Vista, few vista problems but now mostly sorted. http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.pht...nt-finish.phtml Noticed that when i have it plugged into my mixer, volume on high....no track playing, I can hear the high pitched "computer language" through my headphones...and therefore through my main output when no track playing. Not a huge problem, as mostly music is playing and you cant notice it too much, but a band was on last night, and I left my laptop channel open (slider high) had to turn it to zero to stop this high pitched "communication sort of language sound" coming ot of laptop Noticed it changes pitch and speed etc when clicking mouse to applications etc...so defo a internal computer language coming through the headphone outputs.....internal sound card is good though, Nvidea Gforce Any ideas apart from dumping the internal sound card and going USB? DJ Marky Marc 0
this noise is a bit like crosstalk on mixers but with data signals, badly screened cables also cause this, you should try a quality external sound device..as you can't change anything inside the laptop.
TonyB 0
Does it happen when you pull the mains plug out and run on the battery? If it doesn't then a ground loop isolator should cure it click here
Andy Westcott 0
I think it is exactly what Marky says - data crosstalk. The solution depends on where it is being picked up - if it is getting into the signal cables after the soundcard, then better cables might do the trick, but I suspect it is noise directly from the soundcard itself, in which case a USB one might solve it. Comuters represent a very noisy environment, both from the point of view of radiated RF, and also from the supply rails used to power the soundcard. Before spending money, do you know anyone with a USB card you could borrow, to see if this cures it?
bigMCben 0
It's slighty off topic but my help resolve your issue. My laptop was away for repair so I had to borrow one with vista on it. When I started playing the music at high volume I started getting feedback. It turned out the the internal mic on the computer was on an so this was causing the problem. I had to go into a number of settings within the volume control to find the faders to turn off the mic so maybe there's something similar for the internal computer noises. As I don't use vista, I can't tell you exactly which settings or folders you need to access, although I sure someone on here will know.
Tom 0
There has just been a topic on here about external sound cards Ner ner ner ner... ner ner, ner can't touch this. Steve_Mitchell 0
What a coincidence Jeff I was looking at purchasing one of these last Wednesday. I was in staples and was very close to buying it. I thought though about Vista and decided against. I bought a external hard drive instead. This laptop looked good though, built in web cam , card reader bi HD and loads of memory... Steve 5 European cups and 18 leagues, that`s what we call history.

jeffwall 0
Not sussed it yet as ive not got a external sound card to try, but noticed its the same with mains or battery powered, so perhaps a ground loop wont help? Its defo computer data language coming out of the headphone socket, therfore coming into my mixer....then obviously amplified so its audible through the mackies. not a great problem to be honest, its not that loud. but annoying when no music playing. will have to go usb i think steve, looked at that one in staples, but decided to go for the one in currys instead....finger print log on/off haha cool!! to log onto this site, all i do is swipe me finger now! ebay, bla bla bla ...the same! I know people are not happy with vista, but the problems i was having were mostly due to other manufacturers not updating their products to run with vista....not vista its self, if you know what i mean. the search facility on vista is amazing, click search, enter "van" or "abba" comes up van morison, or abba within 5 seconds...every track on the HD. Xp takes ages to do that also another good vista addition, is the way they have desigbned the windows now.....to the left of the window in "my music" for example is all the music files (still on the screen even if you open one up...easy access to your music not good things..... uses lots of resources, but vista is genrally put onto bigger spec machines, so doesnt cause a problem for example my memory is 2 gig...opposed to 1 gig on my old machine Dual chip T7100 1.8ghz.....so vista handles very quick No doubt loads of problems will come my way once i use it for other stuff, but so far so good UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SUSSED!!!! Thanks to you guys my headphone connection cable comes out the front of the laptop..... My usb cable for the mouse comes out the side.... they were crossing eachother therefore picking up the data from the mouse cable through the headphone cable... was just pushing them together for a neat set up kind of thing sorted! otronics 0
I bet it sounded like duuhh duhh duhh....in pulses? That be the data due to a rubbish onboard soundcard. Glad its sorted though I would still get an external soundcard if you can afford it. If I were to use a laptop, I would settle for nothing less than a card worth £250 for the disco.
