I'm sure I speak for all those who attended this years DJ Show North when a say a big thank you to Paul and his team for putting together a great event.

It was good to get out and play with so many toys, got a list as long as my arm now for new kit I didnt realise I couldn't live without until yesterday, top of which is the Denon HD-2500. gotta say :thanks: to Gary who gave me a demo of it, what an awesome piece of kit it took me a minute to work out how to search folders and load songs (unaided) before Gary showed me the looping, memos and loads of other features which were so easy to pick up.

I gotta admit that I wasn't thinking about getting one because I use a laptop and I'm comfortable with that and was honestly looking at getting the Cortex 1000 as a 'cheap' back up, but now after using the Denon I'm going to get a HD-2500 asap because it does all I want where the other machines don't (looked at the Numark and both Cortex units) and the laptop can go for my backup, gotta get a pair of those denon headphones too.

Was also very impressed with the LED effects on the prolight stand I might have to throw some money there way too

I have used the Denon cans for over a year, they are excellent albeit a bit on the pricey side. The 2500 I used for a gig recently, also very very good - way better than the other 2 you mention.

Well done DJshownorth, I would have loved to be there, but it was not possible.

You didn't say hello :(

I went specifically looking for 3 things.

I wanted to chat to the PCDJ guys about adding karaoke to my red, and they demo'd it for me and gave me all the info I needed. Will probably be buying that in the near future.

I wanted to see if there were any lights that were lighter than my Stairville Earthquakes, but still give a good enough show. Was really impressed by the Littleled lights on the Prolight stand. Amazingly bright for something smaller than a lunchbox, and weighing in at 1 (yes that's a one) kg each, and expected to retail at about £55-£60. Expected out in about 6 weeks and I'll be pre-ordering a set of 4 from my local DJ shop this week.

Was also looking at UHF radio mics, and was very impressed with the Audio Technica.

A bit more feedback for Paul, not that I think you could improve it much, as usual, an excellent show for us mobile DJ's. :thanks:

But :fish:

I wasn't impressed with having to queue up for half an hour to get a burger. I wondered if other people than DJ Show visitors were using the food bus.

and

Where were the Ice Creams.

Ask prolight about the icecreams !! They try to bring something different each year.

As for the girls in the food van, they were expecting maybe 300 visitors and were a bit surprised to get nearly double that. So maybe next year we'll add another food option as well as the big american burger truck.

As hinted above we roughly had about 600 visitors over the course of the day, we had 300 through the door before midday which is unheard of for DJs to be up that early on a Sunday.

Sorry for not saying hello, this weekends still a bit of a blur!!

I was looking for you too because I'd read you were going must admit I'm a bit hard to spot because most of the time I'm not dressed as a clown like I am in my piccy. To be honest I think people thought that I was a mental case who'd wondered in off the street (Half right I'd not wondered in) because I was staring at everyone to see if I reconised anyone from the pictures I've seen on here, I think next year I may carry a big balloon so people will be able to spot me. Gary said he'd seen you and that Party Chris was about taking loads of pictures. Shame I didn't see anyone else because I don't get out much (violin music) with having two jobs, was a nightmare to arrange a Sunday off so I could go this year.

Hope Paul brings it back to Elsecar next year too, but thats just me being selfish because I only live 10 minutes away and i can dump the kids and missus in playmania next door again while I play with some big boy toys.

This is an increasingly common theme now. Many DJs that I've spoken to at previous shows this year, and at DJ show North, have expressed the need or desire to get off of their unreliable laptops onto the DN-HD2500. Several key reasons, predominantly reliability, real control surface, no mishmash assembly of operating system, application, hardware, drivers etc. However, like yourself, even DJs with well-behaved lappys wanted to upgrade too. Also, like yourself, they had their own reasons for the upgrade.

I totally enjoyed the entire weekend: We travelled up on Friday, stayed overnight, got to the venue at 9:55 ready for set-up, set up at a steady pace by about 5pm, had a nice relaxing time at the hotel, then up bright and early on the sunday for the big day.

It was great to put faces (and shakable hands) to names of those whom I've only previously spoken to on here and on other forums, as well as catching up with those who I've met before - apologies to those who waited and waited for me to become free, only to find that as soon as I'd finished a conversation with one potential buyer, I was instantly turning around to find another - same every year, but hey, better than a totally empty stand.

Also...I didn't have time to look around much of the rest of the show, BUT...quick highlight for me was the latest clever invention from ULTIMAX - They now do (well...available soon) a stand which will allow you to hand a big starcloth backdrop, or some lighting etc, behind/above you...without tripods....- its got two flat feet which drop down front and back into a locked upsidedown T shape... Great stuff - you need to see a piccy of this as I've not really explained it well...but...a great device, and folds down really well, and is expandable to the size you want.

Other highlights - one of the lighting stands causing the venue to be evacuated on the set-up day (day before public) due to their smokey machine setting the fire alarm off - (happens to us all at some point)... tongue out icon

I must also thank wholeheartedly the entire DJ Show North Team. Firstly, for another well organised, well advertised, well attended, and well-managed event with all the whistles and bells. But secondly, for their assistance in helping with the last few bits of kit back out to the van at the end of the event. I've not been feeling 100% for 2 or 3 months now (reason known), and whilst I sincerely hope it didn't show during the "doors open" part of the show, I was definately lagging by 7pm. The DJSN guys and girls were too, but they helped out none-the-less, and were still able to show their dentures from hinge to hinge for the group photo at the end - thanks all - especially DJSN Paula, excellent kisser... :ads:

Will I/Denon be there for DJ Show North 4 - You BETCHA...

Can only add to all the positive comments already expressed concerning DJ Show North.

2nd Year me and my partner vikki have attended.

Good to meet up with you again Paul (High Fidelity) and see you looking so well. Thanks to Gary for the excellant demo of the Dennon HD, very nice piece of kit and was nice to actually see it in the flesh so to speak.

Agree some of the Prolight LED effects where very impressive and certainly may see an investment in those shortly. Also although saddly there was no free ice creams from prolight this year I did win a pair of headphones on the hook a duck.

Big Thanks to Paul Arrnett for another very succesful show

Only problem I now need to try and find lots of money to then spend on new toys tongue out icon

Paul,

Thanks for the opportunity to spread the word a bit more, from the DJ Bids team.

I was happy to get 2 Ultimax stands at the end of the show for £150 (only one more Giraffe to replace now)

Gary, thanks for the chat about the HD etc, I think we hit the nail on the head. Your description of the Star cloth stand was spot on (although I did see it obviously)

Nobody else from here said hello (despite a description of what I look like & what I'd be wearing) :(

But I did put a few names to faces from other forums (including those that were still in my room at the Travelodge at 4am)

If I go next year, I'm staying in Sheffield. I didn't like Barnsley (there were some scary folks about & their cabs are :poo: )

High Fedelity, I agree. I think Prolight are raising their game a bit these days, some nice LED stuff their.

Shame the L1s were drowned out by the other systems.

Just working out a special power distribution board for noise offenders foir next year as they're not taking any notice of the staff, it will have a sound limiter on it, any repeat offenders will have their stand power supplied through it until they behave. see if they like that!

I must say I haven't laughed that long or that hard in ages. It was a good night!

The rest of the day wasn't too shabby either (Aside from the inhabitants of Barnsley resembling characters from the league of Gentlemen. We definately saw Edward, Tubbs, Mickey & the cab driver)

I did enjoy it but i was very tired as i worked Friday night till 3am then had to be at alton towers for 10 the next day till 4am then the Show so had to travel so was a little erm tired.

The Burger van was rubbish i do not eat meat and by the time we got there they had ran out of chips so i could not have anything to eat and as i had been on the road i was also very hungry.

The issue with the Auction (might just be because i arrived late) but i never got to see the things close up so did not know if i should bid or not.

I never got chance to speak with the Denon guy which is a shame as i am currently thinking about changing from a laptop to one but he was very busy so moved on and then it was too late.

One final moan (i know this was nothing to do with DJ Show North but) people packed away well before and we (me and My Wife) felt like we were in the way. Other than that great show i did like the sound systems but i know a lot of people moaned about this

A lot of exhibitors got told off for packing up early, it says in our T&C's that you can't pack up when the general public are still in the room.

Burger van, well it looks like we may be getting a jacket spud van as well for next year, plus there's always the cafe on site, that didn't get used much.

I was/am that Denon guy  ,and you're right, it was really busy on the Denon stand at DJ Show North - there are a lot of people keen to move up to the DN-HD2500, either from CD's or Lappys, like yourself - and even from the other 2 brands of Hard drive controllers (as per the call I got via SEDA a couple of days ago... :D )

However, I'd be more than happy to talk to you about your upgrade. and go through any questions that you've got.

I'm at Musicbox's/Petes DJ get-together at Egham, Surrey this Sunday, with the entire Denon exhibition rig, Alternatively, theres the September SEDA show in Maidstone, but that doesnt sound all that close to you.- so...there's Novembers BPM show in Donnington...thats sorta Northish.

However, if you prefer, PM me your telephone number and we can talk through the DN-HD2500s features that way - not as good as a hands on demo, but might be a good interim step.
