Dream Catchers 0
I know we all say that we can cater for any size of function but there are limits really. I'm sure there are very few that could do a sound system for Wembley on NYE etc..... So what is the SMALLEST (least punters) booking you would accept? What is the smallest you have done? Corabar Steve 0
30 The smallest I've done was for 10. It was at a hotel where we were booked near enough every night in December for Christmas dinner dances, 3 of the companies that had booked cancelled their booking & the fourth refused to reshedule. I didn't use the mic all night & told them that I would play whatever they wanted as long as I had it. It made for a very eclectic night & there were never any less than 8 on the dance floor at any one time (80% of my crowd dancing all night, not bad eh?) I thoroughly enjoyed what I thought would be a nightmare, although I wouldn't want to push my luck by taking a booking for a crowd that small again. Steve... TonyB 0
Mine was 10 too. A 14th birthday where I was told to expect around 40 to 50. Parents hired a hall, put on a lovely buffet and stacks of plates put out but only 9 guests turned up. Had a good time and played requests from the 10 all night but felt sorry for the parents and going to all that expense and trouble.
Paul Smith 0
3 It was a free function to celebrate the Queens Jubilee. They anticipated 200 people (& catered for them) but only 3 turned up. So with those 3, 5 staff & 2 of us we had our own party. I have done wedding receptions with just 20 odd guests. Provided it's in a suitable room (not too big) then it can be a really personal & intimate evening.
dj.silver 0
I did a regular gig in a pub in Wimborne called the Oddfellows Arms, I could only put one light up, set up on a table no more than a metre wide and had to keep my storage boxes in the corridor to the cellar. Maximum people after I'd set up say, 25 and that would be RAMMED! great fun, no more than 4 could dance at any one time http://planetsmilies.net/grinning-smiley-9517.gif I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. Secret Disco 0
4 A couple of years ago in Scotland, done a guys 21st and all that turned up was his mum,dad and his mate.....it was the T in the park weekend and EVERYBODY went there instead. I done a 30th Birthday in a room in Newcastle it measured 12ft X 13ft...a bit of a squeeze!!!!! The largest was just over 40,000 at some festival when i was on the Radio in Ayr and 3000 in the TA hall in yorkhill Glasgow where they converted the transport warehouse in to a function suite. I dont like small gigs .....its like singing to your relatives in your living room when younger. lalalalalala
DJ Marky Marc 0
4 or 5 ish... played at a bar one night and in total i think they had 5 people in.... finished early and got paid the same.. it dont matter if there is only one other person as long as you get paid <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
Dream Catchers 0
What is the smallest disco you will accept, not children's party. I was asked to do a Xmas disco for 35 guest's, I turned it down because I was already booked on that date, I don't think that that is really enough people for a room that caters for 200 to create a great atmosphere. Norfolk DJ 0
As long as they pay me, it does not matter if it's for 1 person. The smallest crowd i have played for is 6.

Andy Westcott 0
A handful - I forget exactly, but it was the bar staff, me & my roadie and a couple of customers. Finished early and got offered full fee, although for goodwill I knowcked off about £20 - I forget the details now. I'll do a disco for as few people as they like, as long as I can physically get the gear into the venue. There was an occasion where I could only use 1 speaker, and had very little room to move about behind, but I'd have turned this down had I known. My website (such as it is) shows the full rig and states its size so the client knows whether it will fit of not.

NRG Roadshow 0
I cant say I would restrict myself to the size of the venue... If the punter is prepared to pay then I'm prepared to play! Did do a wedding once where about 9 people turned up to the evening do, their had been a fight at the ceremony (family bust up)......second round happened in the carpark at my gig.......and I got to go home 2 hours early and I had already been paid.....RESULT!!!
