Swingcats 0
You are holding a heavy light in one hand, with your thumb, pushing up onto the cross bar above your head and trying to do a wing nut up with the other hand when the nut drops off and lands in the darkest corner of the venue. sweat pouring off you, only 6 more to do..........There must be a better way?? I have been told by two engineers about quick release nuts, you put them on at a slight angle, straighten them up and turn a fraction to achieve a full lock. Only trouble is finding someone to sell them to you. Have any of you solved this problem? Good Rockin Daddy (Chris) www.swingcats.co.uk Music to dance to from 1930's to NOW! Shake your rude box. spinner 0
I use Prolight quick release clamps, bolted permanently to Transcension light bars or G clamps when using Trilite.

Norfolk DJ 0
G- clamps with a safety chain is fine. Nuts and bolts are too dangerous.
Andy Westcott 0
I carry my projectors already bolted to the T bars. Set up the tripods; One person on each end of a T bar and L I F T... Very quick and relatively easy.
superstardeejay 0
As usual Norty has beaten me to this one! I also recommend Trigger Clamps. Once you've used 'em, you won't want ordinary clamps again. I spend alot of time teetering up large ladders manhandling large moving heads etc and believe me the sight of a scanner or large effect bolted to truss with trigger clamps is a sight for sore eyes. Single-handed operation (usually) and pretty much foolproof. http://www.adamhall.com/de/media/products/SCP/SCP838-f1.jpg You can see how they work..they are self-supporting (the mouth doesnt gape much wider than the truss diameter). You offer them up to the truss / bar and when the weight is on the hook the jaws automatically close. You can then let go and wipe your brow, then bring the yoke over and tighten the wingnut. Job done! The one in the pic is the Adam Hall version, but Doughty are better as they have larger cast alloy wingnuts that dont need a tool to get them tight. .
norty303 0
You can also get ones which screw up from the back like a regular g-clamp. these make it easier when using tri-lite or box section truss as you don't have to get 'inside' the truss to screw them up.
