Plaisterers Hall, London Wall

Just spoken to a friend who said he's worked at this quality venue.

Rear access, no parking available (vehicle parked some distance away from the venue)

Stairs and lifts

Staging area used at time was hired-in so the venue may have no staging facility

At the time, no sound limiters but the venue will keep tabs on the volume output.

Three phase / 16A

DMX 'Patchwork' system

Venue PLI requirement 10 Million, PAT required.

Hope this helps.

Yes. Thank you.

I was asked to quote for this by an agency that gets me work from time to time - a Thursday night in November. Arrive 15:30. Start 22:00, finish 01:00.

That's an 80 mile journey, possible congestion charge, nowhere to park and hang around for 5 hours before the start.

I gave a figure with the proviso that if parking was not available I would charge for it, if access not simple I would charge for that and if there was a congestion charge to pay I would charge for that too.

Leaving aside the possible extras mentioned above, by the time the agency had added 20% of my fee plus VAT to the total it came to nearly £1000.

The agency could not put my quote forward because it was so far outside the clients' budget.

I suggested they find someone from London.

Dukesy, you will have seen my subsequent comments on this.I passed on the info to the agency. They were unaware of the various restrictions.

Is your friend London/SE based, did he find it awkward to do and did he charge accordingly? Was he at least able to park outside to unload and did he have help?

Yes, he is based in Kent. He had help on the night who moved the vehicle after unloading and brought it back ready to load afterwards. I'll check if he worked there pre or post congestion charge.

He didn't complain about the venue, many venues in London can be awkward I guess.

I believe he charged for evening entertainment. He mentioned that he worked alongside a live act too. Actual cost, unsure.
