ChrisPointon 0
Okay, I know that taking on a roadie or trainee is either for you or not for you depending on whether you perfer to work alone, or have no reason to require any additional help, but consider this.... First of all there have been several visits by members to other members, during their functions, not to spy or to steal ideas but to just view how another DJ works, and see how different their preformance is compared to their own, pick up new ideas and be able to share the same space, without fear of suspicion, icy stares and back stabbing comments, or stigma of having to introduce yourself with those immortal words "Hi, I'm a DJ too" http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif . There are also members here, both young and old who are getting the benefit of advice and training from more experienced DJ's, and are now helping each other on a fairly regular basis. Yes, the words "help each other out" used to bring pails of hysterical laughter in those bygone days before the internet when the thought of helping another Dj out, would bring fear of a plague of locusts to your door. Years ago, DJ's would never speak to each other, let alone offer help, thankfully those days have gone!. Some DJ's still use the excuse 'But I can't afford to employ a Roadie'. Wrong, consider the fact that in exchange for your advice and training, you are getting the addition of another pair of hands to carry all of that heavy gear, up those stairs!. By helping somebody out you exchange like for like and Fair exchange is no robbery. I know that there are DJ's out there, who are either too proud or too old fashioned to admit that they could do with some help, or at least some conversation during those long buffett breaks! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif , I also know that there are people out there who are desperate to learn the business properly. Not from some Dj Workshop, college course, Text book, or DVD but from getting some real training from real DJ's, at real functions. Now, why not bring the two together?, this forum is growing on a weekly basis, and whilst there may not be a DJ or Roadie in your local area today, who can say there won't be tomorrow?. We already have a highly successful Gig swap section which itself is growing, so why can't we do the same with finding Roadies for DJ's and DJ's for Roadies?. I'm not talking long term committments, or contractual obligations here, I'm just asking those working DJ's to consider allowing another person from the forum to attend at least one gig with them http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif . Who knows, you may find that person willing to help you on a regular basis, or have a potential professional DJ to fill in for you during holidays or to run that 2nd roadshow you've always wanted to start...... I know some people need long term training, and others are perhaps already working gigs, but just need a little push in the right direction with regard to handling certain gigs, which they may not have done before. So how about it?, any DJ willing to take somebody to one gig with them and share a little advice and experience then post below, including your immediate area. The same applies to any Trainee or existing DJ who needs a little bit of advice and would like to accompany an experienced Dj for a Nights work, please post below with your immediate area. Hopefully there will be some people who will meet in the middle http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif . I'll eventually pin this topic in the 'starting out' area and keep it there for a while. Note that it may be a while before you find somebody in the same area as you, but be patient. Please keep this Post ON TOPIC with offers of help or requests only and for security reasons all participants must be 16 or over So what are you waiting for?? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Hugmaster 0
Hi Yup I'm up for this one. So anyone want to come and spend a gig or two with Big Mix, you're more than welcome. We cover: Northampton, coventry, Rugby, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Milton Keynes etc. Be advised, if it's a Wedding and we're in our full tux and black tie gear, you'll need to be dresed in at least shirt and tie. Hope to hear from...erm...someone heheheh Darren Ps We don't atually need the extra muscle even though it's most welcome, there are two of us already, but just to come and look at how a blind git operates his equipment has gotta be worth a look ;) Take a listen to Music Matters, the Big Mix Entertainment podcast, featuring music from the Podsafe Music Network. Eskie 0
My car is usally jam-packed with my gear including the front seat, which would make it difficult for me to offer help. Occasionally though I do gigs which require a smaller show, then I can offer help, mostly around the London area. Anthony Winyard Entertainment www.awe-dj.co.uk, Entertaining London & the South-East!
