I think I'm having serious problems with my business email!

I have emailed out a poster for the 25th meet to everyone who's already expressed an interest, however it seems a few have certainly not recieved it. All the updates will apear hear and I am seeing if I can get the poster on the forum, but I wonder if those of you who haven't been getting emails from me and certainly those who didn't get the email with the poster could PM me on here to let me know, otherwise I will just assume you all know everything. I'm also aware (as I am by no means a graphic designer) that the poster may not look quite the same on everyone's PCs, so I will attempt to turn it into a .jpg today. To save time, if you can use a poster somewhere, please email or PM me and I will send only to those interested.

Can I push the Sunday swapshop as well.

The idea is to bring along any kit you don't want or don't use anymore and would like to sell or exchange for something else. We do need to know about it before the 25th though please. Quinney is looking after this one.

To take part, please email him: JEAIRCON@aol.com with details of what you have to sell / swap, how much you want for each item and if you'd be happy to swap, details of a few things you'd be happy to swap them for. That way Andy can get it all organised in advance.

Also please to let you know that Derek Pengelly will also be joining us to give a presentation on how NADJ can benefit local DJ's (please be assured that there is absolutely no pressure for anyone to join or for our local gatherings to be associated, but it is a chance to hear what they have to say and offer).

Also hoping to perswade someone to donate a raffle prize (or two), so we'll sell tickets on the day (which will hopefully help towards room costs) - be prepared! Oh and if anyone has something they'd like to donate as a prize.....

Just heard that Derek Pengelly will be the NADJ rep travelling all the way from Cheshire. What started as a meet up with Pizza and beers is turning into what looks like being a really interesting informative afternoon.

Really looking forward to it. Anyone who I might pass on the way and fancies a lift, let me know (I'm traveling from Witham)

Thanks for bringing this back into the forfront again - great to see some enthusiasm. I also got your email address late, so I'm guessing I didn't send you a poster. I will try and get one on line too! Lots going on behind the scenes, but it's important to remember that this isn't just about playing with lots of toys, it's also about forming or discussing how to move forward as a region.

I will be in touch with you and the other guys who have kindly offered equipment for the day and there will be an agenda, hopefully by end of play tomorrow.

But to give everyone who doesn't already know a flavour....

- Derek Pengally from NADJ

- Bose L1 Demonstrations

- Cambridge Sound and Light - some goodies to buy

- Demonstrations to include: Denon HD2500 (there are actually two coming!), Numark D2, Denon HC4500, Acme Imposibled lighting effect

- Sunday Swap shop (read on for more details)

- DMX workshop

And I think that's plenty for meeting one! Hopefully lots of time to do more in the future. Can I just express a huge thanks to those guys who have offered and those who are bringing some kit with them. Much appreciated.

Just a final note - I keep plugging it and still not a great take up. Mr Quinney will be looking after the "Sunday Swapshop", which could actually be better named as a bring and buy sale for DJ's. Surely some of you have equipment you don't want or need you might like a few quid for? Or maybe you just want to swap it for something else. PLEASE please get involved. We really need to know what's coming and how much you want for it before you come, so I need to encourage you to email Mr Quinney - JEAIRCON@aol.com.

If you so far haven't been on my email list (two or three sent so far), or aren't getting the emails and think yuo should be, please PM me on here with your address and I'll get it sorted.

Otherwise, agenda tomorrow and hopefully a great turnout on Sunday?

Well i think its good to see something like this happening in this area. We spend so much time hearing about NADJ & the likes of SEDA going on, but theirs nothing much going on around Suffolk. So im all for this. Great to see some people getting together to make something like this work.

I'll be bringing along some of the Road Ready case range with me. It wont be a massive display, but will include some cases more suited to the "mobile dj". Amp cases, slant rack cases, moving head cases, cd cases etc. The Denon HD-2500 is racked with a Denon DN-X900 mixer in a Road Ready case, so i'll display the Road ready case range as part of the denon HD-2500 display. Im not going to be their selling cases. Im a case designer for Road Ready UK so its good to listen to your comments on what cases you think should be developed. Before anyone also asks...a Denon HD-2500 case has currently bee n manufactured. We are just waiting on the new case to hit the UK. Which should be early next week.

I wont do a massive massive demo, as a "hands on" by visitors and forum members will give you more of an idea.

Will be great to meet you all on Sunday.

Out of interest to Matt and anyone else who is key to organising this...have we got a rough idea of the numbers going along????

Ohhh...and whose bringing the Bose L1. I would of brought my Bose L1 Models 2s so we could do a "like for like" comparison, but their out on a charity quiz in aid of cancer. Maybe next time!

OK Guys, just a few days to go.

Just sent out an email with the agenda on for you all to give you an idea of the structure.

Not sure if I managed to catch everyone, so if you didn't get the email - PLEASE contact me and if you got it and know someone who hasn't - send it on.

The more the merrier!

Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.

By the way, I will probably remind you tomorrow, Saturday AND Sunday!

Just for reference, my HD2500 is coming too, but this is with a Denon X800 mixer...

So that's two HD2500s to play with (although I haven't done anything with it's new Midi capability yet)

Lots of toys then!

Just had an email from Derk to say he's bringing his ImposibLED as well!

By the way, it's tomorrow if you had forgotten.

No it wasn't - It was yesterday - (Time plays havok with these comments!!)

Good day, a nice turnout and good to put some faces to names (Hi Kaz, TonyB, Mo, Adam, Revelation, Quinny, Pagan, Derek and all the others who were there..), the ImpossiLED look nice - Although a little eratic if I'm honest (ie unless floor mounted aimed at ceiling, how easy would it be to stop them shining in peoples eyes?)...

Nice to see YourWeddingDiscos Road Ready Cases, very nice, sturdyand very well made, plus his Denon's (2500, 900 and 5000) which all looked lovely and makes me want to sell my 800 mixer to get a 900)...

Quinney with his setup - nice..

Kaz with her hugs and kiss (!)

Mo with his Bald Head, oops, sorry his Led Par cans and banks (lookin very nice, although I was surprised with the coverage)..

And the local fellas who aren't on this forum for their muffled speakers..

(and TonyB who said he liked my FBT speaker - So ner Matt!!)

and of course Derek for making the trip down to chat to us and to Matt for arranging it....

Cheers guys nice to meet you all...

We made it, it happened and it's over!

Can I send out a huge thanks to all of you who made the treck to Thetford to attend and the guys who kindly lugged there gear into the venue and set up so the rest of us could have a play. In the end we had:

A full disco - set up by the pubs local DJ (many thanks)

LED venue lighting - Thanks Mo

A pair of Denon HD2500 - Tony and Mr Weddingdisco (sorry I will remember your name eventually)

A nice display of Road Ready case

A Denon and Numark PC controller units - Thanks Quinney and Woody

Some DMX controllers and head to play with

A nice little bring and buy section - a few sales made

An ImposibLED

and of course Mr Derek Pengelly

I'm not sure if I'm the best person to review the afternoon - maybe I'm a little too close to it. It was nice to have Derek with us, although I know there were a lot of differing views and thoughs and of course a lot of questions. Hopefully over the next few months we will be able to understand the right direction for us Eastern DJ's to take!

There was a healthy discussion on where next and it has been agreed that we will meet again, in Thetford on a Sunday in early Febuary. It was understood that a Sunday is not the best day for some people, but it was clearly the majority's best day. I'm sure we will look at things as we develope.

It was a little dissapointing that the retailer who had promised to at least come along and maybe bring some goodies to sell didn't show at all. We were all quite keen to have some form of retailer involvement. If anyone knows of a company who would like to make an active contribution in the future please let me know.

We also did manage to enlist a couple of people to help with the ongoing organisation. Andrew Quinney and yourweddingdisco (sorry I will replace with a name!) have both offered to take an active role in future meeting and organisation - thanks for that.

The ony other thing to note was the sad lack of a BOSE PAS. Nobodies fault at all, we had a call early int he day to say that other commitment had come along last minute and it was just not going to be possible - hopefully next time!

In summary, from my end, a great and successful afternoon. Those who wanted to come but couldn't make it, you were missed, but we hope to see you next time. For everyone else, if you did come, bring a mate next time and if you didn't plan to come at all, then we'd love to see you next time.

I'm sure someone else with give you an unorgansiser biased review later!

From an unorganiser point of view, I enjoyed it (even if I was out numbered being the only female!!) (I hugged everyone! lucky me smile icon )

It was nice to finally put faces to names etc.

Some nice gear to play with -

All in all, quite informative, so well done.

:good:

They don't call me Krazy for nothing! Krazy by name - Krazy by nature !!!

From an attendees point of view, well done to all those involved in organising the meet and thanks to those that brought along kit to have a look at and play with.

Unfortunately for me I was in a bit of a zombie mode after getting to bed at 4pm the night before and then being awoken early Sunday morning with a panicky call from someone who was trying to book a New years Eve disco. Next time I will try and get a good nights sleep beforehand and turn the answer phone on.

Nice to put some faces to names although I think wearing the name badges should of been made compulsory because I can never remember names.

Interesting to see the LED lights in action. They weren't quite what I expected and my impending purchase of some Impossibed's has been put on hold.

Tonsk's FBT speakers impressed me. Not a make I've looked at before but are now on my short list when I next upgrade.

Was disappointed at there being no Bose PAS but never mind. I'm sure I'll get to hear them in action one day.

Just thinking allowed regarding retailers, I wonder if Essex DJ would be interested or Terralec based in Southend who I believe are one of the bigger suppliers in the area. Only other large supplier I know in this area is BKE Electronics also based Southend way but they might all be a bit of a trek for DJ's from Norfolk.

Remember the name Matt - its ADAM...thats ADAM

hehehehehe

All in all, it was a good day out. It would of been nice to have spent a bit more time looking at some of the equipment that was their. Matts Mini Macs, the Acme movers, the LED pars and floods from Mo, and of course the Denon HC-4500 that was their. It would of been good to have a bit more time to play and get a demo of them by the owner/user. Maybe something to feature at the next meets???

A Huge thanks must go out to Derek Summers. I think it would be a great idea for this meet to turn into the NADJ East Anglian branch. Im sure when the group becomes a bit more known, then more Djs from the area will attend.

Like ive said, I am more than happy to help arrange the next meetup.

Sorry Adam,

Crap with names - I did PM you but no reply :( Guess your just busy! I also tried to edit my post and i can't so if someone can correct the bit where I had forgotten Adams name, I won't look quite so silly!

Hopefully Quinney has been in touch and we're on our way to organising the next one!

To those who weren't there, Adam and Quinney have both kindly offered to play an active role in the next meeting! Thanks guys

First thing is finding a suitable venue. Any Thetford forum members out there that could help with this.

It has been suggested we make it a Sunday evening next time - how does that sound to everyone?

Before I moved out here I used to DJ at the Carnegie Rooms in Thetford. Its a large community hall with 3 separate rooms that would be ideal for your purpose.

This is not a rehearsal

This is it - grab it while you can.

I think finding a venue which is not only cheap, but also offers both a bar and food would be the best option!

The Ark was an ok function. It may not have been the best for both space and layout, but it was great because it was practically free!

Like i mentioned at the meet, as long as the meet is upto an hour away from the main EA members, then id find that an acceptable venue.

Ipswich is near the bottom of Suffolk anyway. With Cromer in Norfolk being probably at the very top!

With EA being covered with Suffolk, Norfolk, Herts & also Cambs, its a wide area! So pin poiting an exact spot is going to be difficult!

I think me and Quinn will start to discuss the next meet, as well as trying to rally round to find some next reviews and "highlighted products" to feature at the next DJ meet.

Good to get some help!

However, the general vote at the meet was that we kept to Thetford for the next one - I think it's important we stick to that. I'll try to help a little with venues as I grew up around there.

It's hard when you don't live there isn't it!

I know we can't use the Ark again, but I'm sure we can find somewhere else
