Last night I covered a gig for somebody at his usual residency. All I needed to take was my computer as eveything else was there already.

Turned up at 7.30 Started at 8.

40th birthday party - about 150 people. Great crowd - plenty of dancing and a great night had by all - birthday boy's comment, not mine

Nothing for this weekend.

Did the all day music for the women's refuge midweek, though. Must have done something right as I handed out a lot of cards to both private and council people. tongue out icon

You want me to play what?

Kicks myself for forgetting Camera! Last night was very much a ladies night and lovely they were to. Best I could do with my mobile phone while they were doing the Cha Cha Slide:

This wasn't a gig I was looking forward to. Why on earth would anyone put the football pitch in front of the club house with no road up to the clubhouse? Fortunately we were able to get closer through a gateway to an adjoining field and there was a trolley available to transport the gear from the car. Done it in two trips with the trolley. With my roadie not being available and with myself still getting over the flu, I would of been happy to curl up in bed. Neil (Old Soul) was an invaluable help transporting the gear, setting up and packing away plus the bit in between. The clubhouse was split in two with the disco in a room at the back and the bar and tables in an adjoining room. The men sat in the bar all night and we had to entertain the ladies.

With a fuzzy mind I was struggling of thinking what to play and they were a difficult crowd to read. Fortunately there were plenty of requests and Neils input was invaluable. The cheese started quite early and didn't stop for most of the night.

We did receive plenty of appreciation (Neil more than me :-)) and it was a pretty good night in the end.

Was certainly an interesting night, not sure I've ever had one quite like it before :scared:

There we were at 9PM saying we can't see much of this lot dancing, and at about 9-15, there was a full dance floor, and requests for cheese flying in thick and fast. By about 11-15, it hadn't let up, and by then we were starting to worry that the cheese had been spread too thin, and would be all gone by the 12 O'clock finish, but through sheer proffessionalism, we managed to pull through

It was an odd, but quite enjoyable night, and there was more than one set of very loooong legs on show on the dance floor. Highlight for me was about 20 young ladies in short skirts and low cut tops on the floor for oops upside your head, which Tony was unfortunately too short to see properly over the top of the starcloth :karen:

thanks Tony for an err, interesting and different night, oh and incidentally, we have apparently, met before.

I was looking forward to last nights wedding but god I was so bored.

Got there at 5pm to set up, guests dstarted arriving at 7pm and then band arrived to set up.

Background music until food at 9pm and then played 1st dance and then the band kicked off. Fireworks at about 10.30. Background music again while they were outside. Then the band played agin until 12.20. So I had been there from bloody 5pm and I played from 12.20 until 1 am. So god damn bored. After the band had finished most people drifted off so I was playing to about 10 people. Considering that the room had just had over 100 people in.

I know I shouldn't moan as it was just a case of pressing buttons for the lights all night but I was nearly falling alseep come midnight. How are you then supposed to get going to play for just half an hour. GGRRRRR!!!!
