llcooljoe 0
As I mentioned before I'm a complete novice and although I love music have no real idea about being a dj. I promised to do the music for a family party at a hotel so I purchased a kit as I had no idea what I needed. It included this: Numark CDN 22Mk3 Twin CD Player Numark DM1090 Mixer Flight Case (For CD Player & Mixer) Gemini XTR500 Powered Speaker system 800Watt 2 x Speaker Stands Numark WS32 Radio Mic Numark HF125 Headphones plus lighting and stuff. The first disco I did went like a dream the second one was 5 hours long and much harder work. I found myself putting the music up louder and louder which caused two problems. One when I spoke into the wireless microphone it killed the music dead. It didn't stop the cd's but it just faded the music out, causing people to moan! Great. Then one of my cd's starting skipping. it worked fine at home, so it wasn't the cd. I'd be grateful for help on this. I really can't afford new equipment at this stage, as I haven't paid for this lot yet, so any suggestions to how I can try and avoid these issues again. It's kind of made me lose my confidence! cookiecat 0
Turn down your auto fade this will keep your music level up.During your sound check have your levels set at the max you will be using then bring it back.As for the cd skipping, one of those things. Something witty goes here..
llcooljoe 0
Thanks very much for your reply. I contacted the suppliers of the dj equipment and they said that they thought the skipping cd could have been vibrations from the base, and that I should put the cd player and mixer on a piece of foam to try and stop that happening again. Mattaious 0
Sounds like the autofade on the mic channel to me Adjust the level for the fade or "sensitivity" and then for the "cut level" Should work ok Any problems then ask away
superstardeejay 0
Now you know why modern professional CD players have anti-shock memory. .
llcooljoe 0
Now you know why modern professional CD players have anti-shock memory. I must admit having only bought my gear earlier this year I assumed what I was buying did have "anti-shock" memory. More fool me. Erm and now I'll sound even more of a fool by asking where the autofade is? Sorry I did say I know nothing. I am whatever you say I am
cookiecat 0
Mmmm, just had a quick look at a pic of your mixer, there is no auto fade! Why the level of music should decrease when you speak baffles me. When you spoke what did you do?Did you lower the ch volume or the master? Something witty goes here.. llcooljoe 0
Well that makes me feel less of a fool. I was looking everywhere for this auto fade button! I lowered the ch volume, as I spoke it just cut the music almost to nothing. I quickly switched the mic off and it was fine. For the rest of the night I used the plug in mic and avoided the wireless one and it was ok but the mic isn't as good quality. I am whatever you say I am
