client then said that she wanted to cancel becuase your not a real DJ unless you play vinyl..

Good on yer for getting extra money, but that is just so ridiculous. As someone who has mixed with records, cds and mp3s I would definately argue that it takes more skill to use vinyl (though it is more fun). But being a DJ is all about playing the right record at the right time to entertain and lift the audience, not playing vinyl for vinyls sake. Pretentious c:cense:p if you ask me.

As you say, they will never know anyhow! Just pop a record on with needle on an keep that fader down :dan+ju:

Good luck!

Interesting point, personally I have to say that I always found it far easier to mix on 1200's than I ever did with CD.

On the point of the post though, I only ever get positive comments with regards the PC and software, but then again, many still listen to wax cylinders around here (Now they are a bitch to mix smile icon )

Is that 100 songs to three decimal places, or 100 thousand songs?

Assuming its the latter, even at a humble 79p a download, that's £79,000 you've spent on music.... Now 1, Now 2, Now 3.... all the way up to Now Thats what I call music Five Thousand, six hundred and forty two...

One word for allocating that sort of financial commitment to a collection of original music is : impressive.

Was a major vinyl and cd junkie, and on a hell of a lot of mailing list’s which helped now my best friend is sound forge takes up a lot of time but is definitely worth it

Think the Guy is forgetting other areas of the service we provide 'Professional Presentation'

My logo is

'Professionally Presented Music For Every Occasion'

It has been for over 27 years

Any Muppet can stand behind a lightbox or black cloth and play music in any format (not a pop at anyone just trying to put it into context).

But my shows (and many others here) are all about Professional Presentation (Lots of Microphone work) and could'nt give a damn if the toons came out of a wind up gramaphone.

Hence i justify my fee by my presentation.

So when the muppet has a pop at you and says he could do the same playing music via his lappie, then offer him the microphone to present the rest of the evening..........Then watch him run !!

I do alot of high end work and dont do alot of microphone work. Most of my clients dont like it either. You can have proffesional presentation without the need to be on the microphone alot. I like to have a full dance floor and can do that without a lot of mic work.

No offence but I cant stand a disco where the DJ is Talking half the night.

Personally I do enough mic work the majority of it being "this is a request for for" "are we all having a good time" "bit of motown coming up" etc etc.

I very rarely introduce a song because I'm not playing anything obscure and the majority of people will know it. i find a DJ who does a lot of mic work irritating because lets be honest people are there to dance not listen to a dj with a fake accent mumbling to himself and laughing....

In my opinion of course lol

Microphones should be used as and when required, not every other track. If it needs saying e.g a request dedication, happy birthday, buffet open etc, say it. If it doesn't. don't!

You want me to play what?
