jackrichards 0
Hi guys, a little advice needed here. As I took on a large gig for new year I decided to purchase some extra lights to give more of a visual effect (The sound system is capable of this size). I bought a set of four soundlab vicosa lights, which are sound to light, and three slave units link to the master to create an intelligent light show. The master unit remains on all of the time, no flashing or sound to light operation although the other three work perfectly well (for a cheap light system). Im just interested before I send them back to the manufacturer if anyone else has had a similar problem and if they know any cure! Many thanks! Jack
datamoonking 0
Oh dont get me started they are a terrible lighting effect out of the same familly as my volta and vicosa and not one but both packed in on me during a gig so i am less than happy with the build quality of soundlab at the moment. Plus i had a mini scan to wich didnt even work in the first place.soundlab have one of the worst range's of lighting. you would probably be beter selling them and going for something like the vango swing from maplin electronics. hope it helps. www.freewebs.com/djs-for-hire
superstardeejay 0
Almost certainly a faulty triac in the master controller, if they're under warranty I'd send them back to the dealer who should be able to repair it in his workshop in no time. The other three can also stick on for a similar fault in the master for the same reason. The triacs sometimes go if the lamp has blown but if they're brand new this is an unlikely reason! . nrgize 0
Are they these lights ? http://webzoom.freewebs.com/dgsounds2006/Equipment%20Page/Vicosa%202.jpg We use to have similar lights on the hols site but called Fearsome four and they had colored Gels in them. Problem with these lights there are no moving pieces inside, so you would be best of just getting some pin spots. We used to have a problem with the master unit as well. It had 4 IEC socket output, but the master sometime would just stay on all the time, and the bulb blew quite oftenly as well. If I were you I would take them back and get a refund, say you had to buy more lights to get you out of trouble that night. Heres some ideas that are cheaper than what you might of paid for these lights. http://www.terralec.co.uk/product_images/prd{BABC1980-7338-4D14-AE01-D5F300BE833D}.jpg Cost about £60-£70 for a set of 8. If not maybe try the bird of preys or the alligators, they look similar except it has motors inside them which makes the light beams rotate round each other. This one is DMX as well : http://www.terralec.co.uk/product_images/prd4b174493-6cb3-41a3-a287-3ba1c25c317d.jpg £50 http://www.terralec.co.uk/product_images/prd{FC7B0099-A019-48A0-A6CF-CADCDE1CE9C3}.jpg £70 http://www.terralec.co.uk/product_images/prd42a35fe4-2c06-4c9f-8a0c-27b2d8445deb.jpg Hope this helps !!! jackrichards 0
Thanks for all the help folks. Think these will have to go back to manufacturer, then maybe for a quick sale on ebay!
