analyst 0
OK, so we have lots of chat about floorfillers etc for the dancey part of the evening, but I don't see (yup I'm blind or drunk . . . or maybe blind drunk) too much chat about that part of the night when you have to slow it all down and stop grilling the punters under that fabuloso lighting rig. So, lets hear it for the smoochies huh? I'm sure we will find the inevitable "one man's meat is another man's poison" syndrome, but doesn't that just make life all the more interesting? Let's not just make up big lists, any fool can do that, give everyone a chance and let the thread develop, so restrain thyselves guys and guyesses. Thoughts and opinions, not just suggestions would be nice. C'mon, who are the romantics out there? I'll start it off, with . . um, something definitely less ordinary out of the box. A very under-rated artiste, but IMHO an absolutely sensational writer/producer/singer. Richard Hawley - Valetine. (On 2007 album Lady's Bridge, but scheduled for single release 28th January, unsurprisingly just in time for Valentines Day) Ladies, does this song make you swoon? <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

TonyB 0
I have been surprised how popular Lady in Red, Chis De Bergh is so often play that as well as Fields of Gold, Eva Cassidy. Depending on the function, I sometimes finish with Angels, Robbie Williams at the end if a smootchie is asked for. Generally I try to avoid the slowies if possible.
C.S 0
Sounds daft but i dont play any ! If i had to it would be probably be Dido - dont leave home or randy crawford - you might need somebody. Edited January 7, 2008 by C.S I will try anything, once! The Cornish will arise again ! Norfolk DJ 0
Slowies depend on the crowd/function that I am doing, so there is no set rule. Not unusual for me to play Jim Reeves. As a general rule, Will Young is usually a safe bet. Edited January 7, 2008 by Norfolk DJ
robbiedj 0
Varies a lot. Lady In Red goes well, as does Wonder Of You & Wonderful Tonight. Even Release Me at family dos. Other times I use Tom Jones - It Looks Like I'll Never Fall In Love Again Phyllis Nelson - Move Closer Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father And, of couse, Barry White. You want me to play what? Spear 0
I quite often lead into the slow stuff with the upbeat version of "Time Of My Life", Amazed by Lonestarr often goes down well or Eternity by Robbie to finish with. Mattaious 0
I used to play - For a sing along that went down well - That song from Bridget Jones Diary - Nobody does it better - Carly Simon? But the real slowy was - Eric Clapton - Wonderful tonight - But stopped playing that as a must a few years back (long story) - But my Fave - Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply
kenny wisdom 0
Aww, as a tribute to my ever patient wife, who rarely complains despite having to sit throughout a function mostly on her own, if she comes with me, I always try and play Bette Midlers "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and if I can I'll dance that one with her.
High Fidelity 0
Depends on the function. Weddings - I often use The Wonder of You - Elvis or Finally Found - The Honeys(I think ) Mature functions - The Answer to Everything - David Alexander Did a wedding a few months back where about the only thing they would dance to was slowies, so I played one of my alltime fave tracks Barbara Streisand & Bryan Adams - I Finally Found Someone, and one of the guests came up saying "You've got my vote Mr. DJ, for just this one track", and the dance floor was about the fullest it was all night. Quitting Smoking & Drinking doesn't make you live longer It just feels like it.
jamesmurphy 0
Bee Gees - 'How deep is your love' works well, but my fave is Al Green - 'Let's Stay Together' Edited January 8, 2008 by jamesmurphy
Revelationroadshow 0
Am I the only one with a set 15 minutes at the end of the night? There is a long standing reason for doing it, but it's something I always do. So it goes soemthing like this: 1. Dirty Dancing - I've had the time of my life 2. Jack Johnson 3. My choice of popular smoochy - currently Phil Collins - in the air tonight 4. Another smoochy, usually something a bit older to end OR 4. Frank - New York New York <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

Depends on the crowd i guess. Slowies for me. In the absence of requests. Take That - Back For Good. Bon Jovi - Always Atlantic Starr - Always I might swap one out for the latest, Leon or Westlife depending. ---------------------------- Thanks ... deejaymitch 0
At private parties I always judge it based on the crowd. But in my residencies I always try and slow it down at the end so that I'm not sending a load of hyper people out onto the streets at closing time, and getting the venue in trouble. I either do comedy songs or slow ones. Never Forget by Take That is great but only really works as a last song of the night. But there was an album released in Europe last year called Forever Young which had a load of European schoolchildren singing 80s rock classics. (It has no listed artist name, but is generally found under "Waterboy"). Anyway I got a copy imported and it's really good, especially the last song (the title track Forever Young - originally by Alphaville). It's a brilliant slow song, older crowds remember the original. younger crowds know the dance version, and people can't help singing it. Anyway it's quite hard to find but you can hear it on this crude slideshow I made for it last year: http://bebo.com/FlashBox.jsp?FlashBoxId=4793671005& I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.
Reverandfunk 0
Usually I do time of my life then slow it down because personally I find if you keep banging it out with no slowies people dont want to go home, the slowies tell them its the end of the night. I usually favour; Temps - My girl Aerosmith - Dont want to miss a thing Carpenters - Close to You Robbie - Angels Sometimes finish off with New York New York
KrazyKaz 0
Robbie Williams - Angels Lonestar - Amazed Westlife I don't get much chance to play slowies . They don't call me Krazy for nothing! Krazy by name - Krazy by nature !!!Age doesn't matter, unless you're a cabinet!K K Disco
