lateandlive 0
Having just gone through lord knows how many posts about speakers (!) I was after a conclusive view from you lot! We currently use an active, 1 bass and 2 sattelite setup from KAM. Certainly can't grumble about the sound quality but lugging all 3 upstairs or even out the trailer is like lifting a beached whale back into the sea on your own! What do you guys favour? Active or passive and 1 bass 2 sattelites.....2 of each.....just sattelites that have enough bass in them? Suggestions pls!

4zzz 0
RCF ART 325 15inch One in each hand for load in. Never needed a sub yet. If one ever needed will just go out and rent one pluse more speakers if required. Most average functions I do more than enough good sound. Haven't peaked them out yet. Saying that adding one later on just because I love the bass
deejaymitch 0
I have to back Eazy up on this one. When he started telling me about the HK Audio L.U.C.A.S. range I was a little sceptical. But I can honestly say that the Performer speaker set is the greatest purchase I've ever made. Lightweight, easily transportable (the sub is on wheels), powerful and delivering perfect sound. The fact that this system has delighted both Eazy (incredibly obsessive about quality) and me (incredibly lazy) says it all. http://hkaudio.com/products.php?mode=prod&id=69 I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Hi, I've just treated myself to an 'LD DAVE' single active stereo sub / 2 satellite system. Sub is a 12" unit, satellites are 6" (!!!!) - a very compact / light sytem but the sound is awesome and though the RMS for the system is 600w in total it really does pack a punch! The really neat feature about the satellites is that they have adjustable tophats in them - you can angle the speakers up or down on the stands which can be a great asset in many 'clinical' function rooms, you know the ones - a rectangular box with no soft furnishings and lousy acoustics! Over the years I've used many a big rig but these days it's not necessary as PA design has come on leaps and bounds. 'LD' systems are well worth a look - and no,I'm not on commission!! Good luck in your search! Greg. Captain of the good ship 'Andromeda' - a bit of a wreck like meself but at least she will look better with time...... PS. 'Pugwash' rules!!! dj007 0
just to add my opinion on lighter speakers i would reccomend FBTMaxx 4 or 5s any day. im disabled and i retired from djing 9 years ago and sold all my rig off except for my technics. 10k speaker set up was just a nightmare for me and being on crutches meant i had to hire a couple of roadies each time so i sadly gave it all up. UNTIL i read about the FBT active speakers from italy. 4 years ago i went out and bought a pair of FBTMaxx4s on the spot as they were the lightest speakers on the market at only 16kg each. the Maxx4s only have a 12" cone but are 400w rms and the Maxx5s are 15" and 500w rms. i paid £1,050 for the 4s and havnt looked back since. in my opinion i even rate them better than the mackies 450s and now FBT have released the newest version for the Maxx series that is even more powerfull (not seen or heard them yet but am very tempted) Clikety Click to FBT or http://www.fbt.it/ jim Edited January 20, 2008 by dj007 IF IT MOVES, FUNK IT. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
