Linking Amp To Speakers

Recommended Posts

If you connect one 8 and one 4 ohm in parallel to each channel you will get 2.7ohms per side, if your amp can drive this you should be ok, most cheap amps wont though, what are you using? If the amp isn't specified to drive this, it will overheat and possibly fail prematurely.

I'm not really a fan of mixing dissimilar speakers like this unless they're meant to be run together eg a bass and a top. Getting the power from each type of speaker matched may be hard due to the different impedance, meaning you may inadvertently overdrive one or not get the max from the other!
