TymmyD 0
How much money do you have to spend? A couple of light boxes, with 4 or 8 lights in with a controller, A couple of moon flower effects/gobo changers on a t bar A couple of scan to on the t bar A UV light That should do it. McCardle 1
Sorry but I think that Lightboxes and spotboxes went out with the Ark, and for the cost of them, when you find them, you can do far better, when I see the old traffic light boxes these days I automatically think Tandy http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif . Go for a few different effects, moonflowers are good and I think that Chris has some special deals on an effect called a Datamoon, I use 4 all linked together and they are very effective. You will need something at the front of your rig to hide your wires but a simple cloth is far better, cheaper and not as cheesy as the old plyboxes with coloured fairylights in them. You don't need to spend a fortune on lighting at first, just a couple of moonflowers will see you through. YourBigEvent 0
A goalpost with 3 or 4 effects on it should do the job Goalpost about £120 Cheap lighting £90 each 4 x£90 and 1 x £120 totals under £500 .....but what do I know ? TymmyD 0
What do you use for a bit of colour/flood rather than an effect? par cans with a controller/dimmers? The goal post and t bars go up to about 3 meters, thats high enough for most ceilings. Edited October 26, 2003 by TymmyD I get paid to look stupid!
ChrisPointon 0
QUOTE What do you use for a bit of colour/flood rather than an effect? par cans with a controller/dimmers? NJD Quartet / Spectre - all in one 4 channel lighting (Quartet) or 3 channel Colour Mixer with dedicated controller (Spectre). Far more compact than 4 par cans wired to a bar and more versatile with its 65,000 colour combination capability (Spectre). For more subtle colour "flooding" try a Chauvet Abyss a great effect for background lighting or more subtle weddings / older persons gigs where high powered par cans / Scanners aren't really an option. I use colourchangers pointed towards the ceiling in "wide" mode for background / fashion show lighting, some of these can also be dimmed by DMX controllers.

Gary 0
Up until 2 weeks ago, I was still "borrowing" a 6ft table at the venue for all my records/CD's. However, I now use a pair of "Saw horses" from Homebase - which are currently down to £12 a pair. These are basically a pair of "A" shapes, which you can lay a couple of planks of wood, or a thick board across. They both fold flat so they will just fit in THAT space between the roof of the van and the top of the speakers... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
