Indeed - welcome to the forum. smile icon

I guess the type and style of DJ you will aspire to be / intend to be will play a big factor in the type of equipment you invest in.

A good tip is to 'try before you buy'.

Don't just set your heart on something and invest in - only to find you wear a smile afterwards to justify to others you made the right choice in the beginning!

So be patient, know your current kit inside out!

Forum wise, I would suggest that you have a look at our Getting Started thread and here for tips, advice and links which are a great resource including the DJ Knowledgebase.

Also.....while you are young - it can be hard not to try and burn the candle at both ends....so make sure you get your sleep and don't waste valuable shut eye posting in the early hours of the morning!!!!!

Or you'll feel like an oil-rag when it comes to facing the daylight let alone anything else!!!!

Hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome mate!

I started at the young age of 10 just a bit younger than you only doing school discos then. Seems like you got an ok piece of kit for your age, I was lugging a whole desktop pc around with me 100w system I had a constella moonflower and a sequencer and a few police things. You will find loads of information on here. Good luck!

1st of all welcome to DJU :welcome:

I also want to mention that we do have specific rules for members under 16 which I urge you to read.

And my last piece of advice is don't let your DJing detract from your studies - you may need to fall back on them at some stage.

Who let the frogs out????

Thats a new one on me.....

And as for the mimic man.....do you mean this?

http://www.lyricsandsongs.com/song/567116.html

Most of the kids aint even gonna know the people in the song well with the exception of Michael Barrymore and possibly Bruce Forsyth.......do kids of your age really like this?

As for your valentines disco, I wouldnt treat it any different to any other disco really, standard teen party stuff for most of it with maybe some smoochy ones chucked in near the end........

Ye the kids do realy get into the mimic man. However i do do it at a rig were the kids no me ad do a lot of discos there. So it is easier. Wouldnt recomend doin it on a first time disco though. (Who let the frogs out is for wedding parties and childrens parties very funny to watch adults do it).

is the song for who let the frogs out.

Welcome Danny.

You write a lot better than a lot of 18-25 year olds i know on other forums, its nice to not have to translate from "sms speak" to english.

Dont get too hung up on buying equipment for now (or until you're earning enough from gigs to justify the spend), work on your mic skills & if you like dance music learning how to beat mix will come in useful (and possibly get you the big £20,000 per hour club gigs in Ibiza if you're very very lucky).

In between gigs why not have a look at Abelton or similar music production software and have a go at making your own music or remixing tunes, this way you'll be unique, and starting so young you'll have a head start on the others.

Good Luck
