llcooljoe 0
On Friday night I was asked to play some garage. Just at the point when I had a full floor dancing to Barbie Girl. But that's another story. To be totally honest, I don't really know what Garage music is!! :stu: Can anyone suggest some good tracks or a cd that's worth getting? Andy Westcott 0
Difficult to define the genre because the media keep changing their minds... Garage to me means uptempo and dancy, with perhaps a breakbeat rather than the strict 4/4 of club tracks. To be honest, I doubt the average person would know the difference either unless they were heavily into that particular beat structure.
Danno13 0
There's two types of Garage, what Andy describes is known as Speed Garage, T2 and H20 are examples of this. Wheras Arichitects, Artful Dodger etc. is 2-step garage. Take a look at Wikipedia, its really helpful for defining genres. analyst 0
Usually you will find Garage pretty close to House and sometimes separated by Garden Shed or Drive.

The original version of that song is so boring, but that mix is great! Thanks I've found a cd called "Pure Garage Rewind - Back to the Old Skool " which seems to have quite a few of the tracks you've mentioned on it. But I can't tell what version of the KCi & Jo Jo track it is though. Has any one this compilation? Edited January 27, 2008 by llcooljoe I am whatever you say I am

llcooljoe 0
Difficult to define the genre because the media keep changing their minds... Garage to me means uptempo and dancy, with perhaps a breakbeat rather than the strict 4/4 of club tracks. Well I finally bought some Garage tracks and see what you mean Andy with the beat. Sorry I'm not an expert on this but does "breakbeat" mean where the beat gets kind of chopped up and then there is a pause. It kinda sounds like the cd is sticking actually. I have to say, I like the frantic pace of some of it, but it wears thin after a few tracks. I am whatever you say I am
Reverandfunk 0
Like the name r&b has also been hijacked. Know what you mean about wearing thin lol, all the songs sound so different....
