i also just got 2 of these - i have used them at 1 gig so far and pointed them at the floor, due to a tschnical problem on my light stand, the lights were not really that high (only about 5.7 feet above the ground) - All it took was some annoying tall chap to stand near the lights and it totally blacked out the effect!!

I am also interested to hear from an expert or someone who has used these lights where they point them.

Cheers

Firstly I'm not an expert but I keep mine within arms reach and alternate it between the ceiling & dancefloor. Sometimes if I'm really feeling adventurous I might even point it onto a wall tongue out icon

As for the CA8 controller - the top one will put it into standby which is handy because when it's powered up from off it doesn't come on immediately and then flashes 3 times before settling into the pattern selected.

The middle button will turn the effect into a strobe however if the bottom mode button is turned on then the middle button will select one of 12 patterns. It will remain on this effect until the middle button is pushed again.

I mostly use mine pointing up at the ceiling because it looks good up there

also i find if i point at the floor it drowns out my other lights

over all a great light to have though

Well done for even getting hold of one of these lights, my supplier ordered 700 but could only get hold of 200

More are due in the U.K in April but already a back order for this load

As for effect this unit is fantastic but best put it up high for the best effect

Another lighting effect which i think is good is the Acme MiracLED ask for a demo if you see one

Finally ordered mine last night and also a 6ft deck and light stand

As you may know search engines (particularly Google) rank sites higher if they have other sites linking to them.

I used mine for the first time tonight ( recieved it yesterday) and was mightily impressed. It looked great pointing at the dancefloor with just 4 scanners running as well.

Possibly cos the dancefloor was empty most of the night :(

so I now have another one on order.

The oldest swinger in town....... probably. Happy Easter.. well I have seen easter eggs in the shops

used mine last night at the most boring gig ive ever done, well im not surprised as it was a 50th wedding anniversary, but the impossibled was excellent, pointed at the floor just enough to catch the back wall as well, used it on sound activated and i was well impressed at how sensitive it was, cant wait till next week now where i know it will be a banging gig,

i wouldnt want 2 of these thou, it filled the room on its own.

Most of the time 1 of these is enough, but last night a bigger room and pointed both of them at either side of the room wall spilling over on to the ceiling. looked really good.

Only worth pointing to the floor if your lights are quite high. Works great if you are on a stage.

I have 2 Acme Boogie LEDs on their way . . . I'm getting too old for all the heavy stuff.

Any update/opinions on the Boogies?

I am increasingly feeling that a couple of Impossibled's are now imperative and that I too, would like to put my kit on the Atkins diet, so maybe I'd follow suit with a couple of Boogies. I'd appreciate comments on performance, functionality, weight and bulk compared to what might be considered their equivalent in "old gear"

My thinking is towards using the impossibled's to fill the walls and sides and then maybe a couple of whatever it takes to fill the hole in the middle (what hole in the middle?) Basically, Feng Shui my lighting and to hell with pointless humping and carrying of heavyweights the punters don't even give a damn about. I am not here to impress the odd DJ who might happen to wander in occasionally.

A second point:

Reading the several Impossibled threads on here, I get the impression you guys are just running them sound-to-light, am I right? If so, how's that looking or is it just an interim thing so you can play with your new toys asap?

Oh, nearly forgot.

:bouncy:

just in case someone takes me too seriously

My 2 impossibled lights are connected via slave/master with sound to light, works well together.

As i mentioned in a similar thread - You may be suprised how big the impossibled lights actually are - the photos make it look very small!! They aint really small!!

If one of your top priorities is weight and carrying equipment etc then you should check out the dimensions and weight from one of the tech specs, so at least you know what you are getting size wise!

I ended up getting a MarveLed to compliment them.

So across the rig I now have RGY laser, ImpossibLed, Boogie, full colour laser, Boogie, MarveLed, RGY laser.

The Boogies are not DMX so just run on S-to-L and are pretty effective.

The ImpossibLed and MarveLed are DMX but I haven't bothered writing any scenes for them yet so they are just running S-to-L too.

I have the Boogies pointing to the dance floor and the others doing the walls and ceiling (they fill most rooms).

About the sizes, the ImpossibLed is about 12" square and 15" deep, the MarveLed is slightly smaller at about 10" square and 12" deep. The Boogies are about 6" high 10" wide and 10" deep.

They all weigh about 7lbs each.

There is a DVD in front of the first 2 pictures to give an idea of the size.
