Who uses the MixMash DVDs, how many and which ones have you got?

What would you recommend getting for starting doing VJing (playing videos not the full blown editing and producing your own work) ?

The gigs I do are weddings, engagements, 40ths etc. Nothing specialised so mainly Pop.

Do you think it would be a good starting point getting the Party set, then getting the monthly Pop?

Why not see how many of the tracks listed say at www.mixmash.com fit in with the style of DJ you are.

For example, if the urban selection is not even close to what you would play at a function, but the party classics, 80s, 70s, Rock and love songs volumes are, then the decision is going to be easy!

You're either simply going to build a DVD video collection of the essential music you already play / are requested for on CD/mp3 when mobile DJ'ing, or yo uintend to go down a differnet route?

 

Seriously, have a look at all the volumes including the dance classics section. It's a great volume set upon which I rely on for some types of function. For others I'll rely on the 80s volumes. I've used the Rock volumes and the 90s....and others. Sometimes I'll use the party classics and sometimes I won't - it depends on the night I'm essentially catering for.

 

Do bear in mind that the video tracks will be close to the radio / short edits and not 12" versions, so whatever your means of playback, if intended to play back-to-back video, the more content you have, the better!

 

Apologies if this is not as helpful as expected but I don't want to suggest that you buy a particular range of volumes (with discount or not!) only to find that the 'demand' or interest is not going to be there!

Sure, there will be discs where two or three tracks may only get played out of the 30 volume tracks but you could add these volumes later on.

The mixmash service 'clipmash' is increasing in size and will allow you to order specific tracks per volume. Worth having a look.

My main functions are Weddings, Engagements, 40/50/60th parties.

My son does the younger end. I think about 90% of the tracks I play fall into the 60s 70s 80s classics as well as cheese, so the Dance, Indie and Urban aren't for me.

 

Maybe I'll keep my eye on eBay for a few weeks to see if anybody is flogging theirs.
