deejaymitch 0
I try to discourage them explaining that it will take time for the band to take down their equipment and me to put up mine, a loss of at least an hour's worth of music. I have to side with Nik here as well. Anytime I've been booked along with a band I've never had any problems when talking to them and finding a reasonable way to help each other out. In most cases I've been fully set up (or damn close to it) before they start and am ready to start playing as soon as they finish. (In some cases I just let a CD play for 10 minutes or so while I sort out my other bits and bobs, but it beats the silence). As I think someone stated earlier, it really doesn't matter if the DJ isn't on centre stage or, if it is that important to you that you are 'seen', you can always set up in a corner and move over when the band are finished. As previously stated, I've never had a bad night when I'm booked with a band and, if you make the effort to talk to them, they can be good people to know.
