Do not use a shaver plug, there is no earth connection and would be a potential danger to both you and anyone who came into contact with it. CPC sell captive Euro - UK adapters They also sell captive Euro 2 pin to UK adapters. They have to be a captive adapter to be eligible to pass a PAT test. superstardeejay 0
Be careful..the UK will be signing up to the euro-plugs before long seeing how things are going! I'd either cut the plug off and fit a 13A plug, get a UK power supply if it's a wall-wart type..its pretty easy really! .
EdBray 0
I'd either cut the plug off and fit a 13A plug, Not a good idea if you do not want to lose your warranty. Thomann will not honour the warranty of the plug is cut off. Bit daft if the equipment is worth serious money. Get the adapters they are not very expensive, work well and are safe. How many do you need? Do not use a shaver plug, there is no earth connection and would be a potential danger to both you and anyone who came into contact with it. Equally, the adaptors mentioned above have no way of earthing, as the schuko plug has no earth pin either. iirc the adaptors have a plastic earth pin on them anyway which purely serves to release the socket safety cover. I find a screwdriver in the release and jamming the plugs in works just fine anyway....... EdBray 0
Sorry, that is incorrect. Both the Schuko adapter and the captive ones described have an earth contact. The Schuko plug has an earth strip that runs down the side of the plug. Both these adapters have a contact which connects to the schuko plugs earth strap. They do not have a plastic earth pin. Grounded contact. norty303 0
Apologies, please substitute Schuko for Euro in my previous post..... http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_adaptor_eurouk.htm Plastic pin, no earth. I'm finding a my kit from Germany is arriving with a mixture of Schuko and Euro plugs supplied. EdBray 0
The 2 pin ungrounded Eurp plug should only be fitted to Class II (double insulated) equipment. The Schuko plug should be fitted to all class 1 (grounded) items.# So, if you buy a piece of Denon equipment, chances are it will have a Euro 2 pin plug as most Denon kit is double insulated. If you buy a Stairville light fixture it will likely have a Schuko plug fitted as it requires an earth connection. nigelwright7557 0
Personally I would fit a UK 13 amp plug. I really cant see why this would invalidate a warranty ! Its not like your poking around inside the equipment itself.

FrankieJ 0
Been an interesting read about these adapters. I purchased a Stairville DMX control last year and the power pack comes with a 2 pin plug, how do you suggest we convert these? DJ Frankie Knuckles.
