C.S 0
Being British is something I am pretty proud of and even though i have lived in Norway for over 20 years and could get a norwegian passport i never would. Yesterday British marines on manouveures here in Norway stripped naked in a bar , smashed it up, beat up local men and sexualy harrassed the women as well as urinating on each other and everybody else in the bar. Dont look good on the front page of the biggest selling newspaper here and it seems to be kind of expected behaviour for brits abroad, i for one feel quite embarrassed and ashamed. You're absolutely right CS - this kind of thing does make you feel ashamed to be British.I hope this bunch of Idiots will have the book thrown at them - these mindless louts are supposed to be representatives for the British people and there's no exscuse for this kind of behaviour. It only takes a few bloody idiots to give the rest of us an even worse reputation than we already have. Having fun / letting your hair down is one thing but this is just senseless vandalism and harrassment. If I was their commanding officer I wouldn't want these morons anywhere near my regiment as they are not fit to wear the uniform. They should be kicked out of the country and out of the forces. Zero tolerance is what's needed if we are to stamp out this kind of stupidity! However, they'll probably get off with just a good bollacking until the next time! There - I feel better now! Takes you back to the days of football violence in the eighties. Wouldn't be feeling to good about it myself. Billy Bragg wrote a great track about this kind of behaviour. The Few At night the Baby Brotherhood and the Inter City Crew Fill their pockets up with calling cards And paint their faces red white and blue Then they go out seeking different coloured faces And anyone else that they can scare And they salute the foes their fathers fought By raising their right hands in the air Oh look how my country's patriots are hunting down below What do they know of England who only England know From the stands of the Empire Stadium Come the heralds of the New Dark Age With the simplicities of bigotry And to whom all the world's a stage These little John Bullshits know that the press Will glorify their feats So that the general public fear them And the authorities say give 'em all seats And the wasted seed of the bulldog breed Is shouting here we go What do they know of England who only England know Our neighbours shake their heads And take their valuables inside While my countrymen **** in the fountains To express our national pride And to prove to the world that England Is just as rotten as she looks They repeat the lies that caught their eyes At school in history books But the wars they think they're fighting Were all over long ago What do they know of England who only England know And the society that spawned them Just cries out Who's to blame? And then wraps itself in the Union Jack And just carries on the same Oh look out, my country's patriots are hunting down below What do they know of England who only England know
C.S 0
Update - Royal engineers who took part in this stunt were arrested this morning and fined £800 each for disorderly behavior. Were then released and re arrested by military police, high ranking officer arrives from uk and takes custody of the 15 men who are immediately put on a plane back to the uk where their reception was not looking all that friendly. robbiedj 0
Good! I hope they really make an example of them. They haven't even got the excuse of coming off front line duty and freeking out, which is still not acceptable but you can see their point at least. You want me to play what? analyst 0
Doesn't make you feel any better to think that we (taxpayers) paid for them to go and do that.

Let's hope they are all named and shamed - and then kicked out of the forces. Can't do with bullies and the world would be a lot better off without them. The sad fact is though that there will be those out there who will think this kind of behaviour is funny and will want to emulate it................it's a crazy world we live in! Military prison is no joke, I went to the glasshouse in Colchester once on business, unlike our comfy everyday prisons, very few people want a return to a military prison, hopefully they'll learn a hard and sharp lesson. Dukesy 0
Not pleasant and a poor reflection true. But I wonder, had it been a different regiment if the consequences would have been a little different?
