Boghead Ben 0
Guys Looking for some sound advice. I have a Numark CD Mix 1 CD Player, which of late, I've not been using. To be honest I retired from the gigging scene but am doing a party for a friend next week. well, I was until I road tested the deck tonight. Basically my problem is that the CD tray in disc B will not open. At all. It did when I hooked up at first tonight and I thought "hey, magic". But it's now stuck and basically jiggered. does anyone know if this is a common fault with this deck and if it can be repaired easily enough? Ben
otronics 0
Happened at a radio station I engineer at. Numark CDN35. From memory it was the workings rather than the motors, as I swapped the connectors over inside and it worked fine. Simply got a nice nice (not Numark) one. Sold the Numark on eBay for parts.. superstardeejay 0
It'll be the drawer belt slipping. Press the eject button in a quiet room and see if you can hear the motor running. If you can, it's the belt perished. In cold snaps the belts can go brittle and lose grip, they might work better in warmer months as an old belt can gain a little extra flexibility if warmer. The belt tends to slip on eject as it has to overcome the disc clamp holding magnet. The belt is hidden under a dust cover just behind the front plate of the deck and under the drawer, and is about the circumference of a 2 pound coin. Edited March 5, 2008 by superstardeejay . DJ Marky Marc 0
leave it in a warm room for a couple of days to get the condensation out.. then try it again... if its still a problem return it to numark for repair, wont cost much to sort out...
Dynamite Discos 0
A whole new drawer unit of the CDMix is only around £40, and that's pretty much your worst case scenario. I had a simialr problem with one of my numark players for a while - you had to rap the front of the drawer for it to open for the first few times after you turned it on. Problem eventually went away on its own!
Boghead Ben 0
Thanks guys, all advice appreciated. I've popped the unit into my friendly Numark repair shop here in Glasgow ; apparently it's a fault with some of CD 1 units and it's an easy repair. £25.
