Am i been a bit silly?

 

I have tried to make a banner for my website but i cannot seem to do it

 

Can anyone help me or give me a bit of advice how to make one

You need a programme like photoshop, but not limited edition as it does not have the right tools

 

My banner is 34cm long which should go right across most screens but will be dependent on the screen resolution of the user.

 

Its a question of pasting layers onto the blank canvas until you have what you want.

 

Then save it as an optimised JPG or gif file which removes some unneeded colour info and makes it quiker loading.

 

Then add in the nornal way to your page as you would any photo.

The full Photoshop CS3 is over £500, and serious overkill for a simple banner unless you already own it, it would be much cheaper to pay someone to do it for you.

 

There is a recent thread discussing graphics software.

 

Paint.net is a worthy free alternative, if you just want to put a font down with a some basic effects.

There are also some online logo generators:

and probably many more..

 

You don't mention if you need a logo, or a banner of your existing logo..

There is also a very good alternative to pspro and photoshop, i have both of these but I tend to use a thing called GIMP a lot more and thats free. Search in google for it. Very useful and easy to use
