TonyB 0
I was reading through some wedding forums and the brides were discussing the last dance they wanted at their reception. I'll be honest, although others may do it, I've never thought of asking. I usually just play what seems to be appropriate at the time. The last dance's that were mentioned were: New York, New York Crazy For You by Madonna I've had the time of my life from Dirty Dancing If your'e going to San Francisco wear flowers in your hair by scott mackenzie 500 Miles by the Proclaimers Can't take my eyes off you by Andy Williams Perfect Day by Lou Reed Tina Turner's Simply the Best Lets stay together by Lemar Some of the reasons for having the track was because it mentioned a place they were going on honeymoon e.g. New York, San Francisco. Perfect Day by Lou Reed seemed to be a favourite for a last dance with father and bride. Others wanted something a bit more upbeat like 500 miles with everyone dancing in a circle. Something else I will have to add to the pre gig questionnaire. Edited May 2, 2008 by TonyB
spinner 0
Always. Often it's something they hadn't thought about.
TonyB 0
Always. Often it's something they hadn't thought about. I alway ask the first dance, any father bride, groom mother or whatever, tracks they definitely do and don't want but it never occurred to me to ask specifically what they want for the last one. Obviously something I hadn't thought about smile icon
Paul Smith 0
I do - quite a lot pick New York but then many don't. Tonights is That's Amore. I do get the comment 'Oh I never thought about that' but then that's what I'm there for, to help them personalise their event and if that means not playing NY NY as the last dance then great, if they do want it then that's great too but it is their decision. Corabar Steve 0
Perfect Day by Lou Reed I wonder how many would ask for that if they realised it was about a junkie? Steve... Mad bad & dangerous to know Better to study for one hour with the wise, than to drink wine with the foolish. Norfolk DJ 0
I never ask what they want for the last dance. A great way to finish off (most of the time) is to replay the first dance of the evening with the bride & groom. by then everybody is on the dance floor and it goes down a treat. It also avoids encores.
