djdave1976 0
Hello , My name is Dave and I've been at it for about 5 years now. Had a lot of good times and obviously a few bad ones. Just wondered what other DJ's play at the start of their nights for 40th's, Anniversary's etc Even now after all this time i feel as if i'm playing the wrong songs to start with( maybe i'm being paranoid) Look forward to hearing from you. Welcome to the forum. For me, the start of the night is 'after' the background bit....when you know there is enough people (guests) in the room and the volume can be raised a little more to 'start' the main DJ entertainment! I've used all sorts of tunes over the years. One that comes to mind (played several times at the 'start' of gigs) is The Real Thing's "You To Me Are Everything" Perfect for Weddings, 40ths and Anniversaries, etc.
NRG Roadshow 0
Welcome to the forum Dave.... My starter track quite often at these type of events is..... The Nolans - Im in the mood for dancing. The Mavericks - Dance the night away. Normally gets them going from the word go, not allways but most of the time.
big mac 0
Hi dave welcome. Wow, some how NRG knew what i was going to write. Mavericka is a great starter, then nolans, Liquid gold, shania -that dont impress me much, simply the best, dancing queen, wake me up before you gogo and then flashdance This should get most of the woman in the room dancing. Then encourage the woman will bully their men on when flashdance comes on. As a reward for first man up I usually play madness or hot stuff for him. I'm just too kind. However before we play all this. fade the background music off completely. fade main house light right down, fade, turn mine on / standby. play Zarathustra for about 20 seconds , until the break in the chorus and announce the disco name " welcome L&G, this is pants disco", then fade in for proper track. ( mavericks) this works lovely with a bit of practice so as not to crash the vocals and trumpet fanfare. even if you have a small show it it adds impact and awareness that the disco is not "in-house" and therefore available for hire!
