dj.silver 0
Just a quickie ... I've a wedding to do Saturday, I must add I don't do too many of them, so playlists are something I don't see that many of. 99.99999999% of it is fine but the bride has requested the Abba mix by Stars on 45. There are loads of 70's disco tunes, some funky stuff and some more up to date material for later in the evening, so it will fit in fine. I have it, it's not a problem, as a norm though I NEVER play them, I can't stand them. I was simply wondering if mixes were a normal request on a wedding playlist? Edited July 2, 2008 by dj.silver I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. It's usually the other way around! lol! Please don't play megamixes. Although my grooms pre-selected playlist (in running order) has the 5 megamix in it - bizarre! However, if it's asked for, there are a couple of megamizes I use which work well. I would personally recomend the DMC Abba mix - it's SO much better than the Stars on 45 one. However, it's the client paying the bill, so if that's what they want....!

RobbieD 0
Why not ask your client for their favorite Abba songs and mix these together? This had the advantage of being tailored to the client, and depending on how well the Abba is going down, you make it last for as long or as little as required to keep the audience interested. dj.silver 0
mix MIX AAGHHH run to the hills http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10364.gif ............ Of course the trouble is then, if I did that good a job they would think I'd used Stars on 45! http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10097.gif I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. Particularly the Dirty Dancing, Abba Megamix, Jive Bunny, Boney M, and the classic Kool and the Gang megamix. They have their place. One of the key obstacles in being a DJ to play anything and everything which is requested. It is not an easy to do!
andyw 0
just play the megamix,it is what they have asked for. if it goes down well you could play dancing queen later as well. never be too proud to play a megamix especially if that is what they want and to answer your question they don't get asked for that often at weddings, but if the bride as requsted it in advance should be no excuse not to play it imo Edited July 2, 2008 by andyw
Neil of the Roadshow 0
We use an Abba megamix and Grease megamix at every wedding we do - guaranteed crowd pleaser every time. If you have the rest of the play list don't sweat it as you won't through them all anyway. Once they get in the swing of things they won't notice. We had a play list for a friends wedding with 104 tracks on it - played only 4 and he and his wife loved it - as long as everone is having a good time you have done your job play list or no play list. If the numbers are movin', the decks a runnin'

That's my plan tomorrow ... there are some real strinkers in the playlist, but I plan to work the crowd around them. It really depends on whether they are a dancing crowd or not. Sometimes they just want to sit down and natter. ---------------------------- Thanks ... Dave Wired For Sound Discos

I was simply wondering if mixes were a normal request on a wedding playlist? Don't take this the wrong way. I reckon about 20% of the music I play I don't like very much, but others and that is what they are paying me for. It makes no difference to me. I did a 40th birthday about 4 weeks ago, and the client specifically requested megamixes. Personally I don't like them very much but I DO play them because some are floor fillers and are popular and these include; Boney M - Megamix Kool and the Grang - Throwdown Mix Dirty Dancing Megamix Abba Megamix - Mastermix version Tight Fit - Back to the 60's Jive Bunny - Swing the Mood Take That - Megamix Rob
NRG Roadshow 0
Take That - Megamix Sounds interesting......where can I find that? Take That nearly always works for me at gigs, although I usually mashup my own Takethat mini-mix.
andyw 0
for me normally we will play any megamix that gets requested,if they ask for it they get it,normally peoplwill come up and say can you play some abba or whoeverand then they will get a track from that artist.the only megamixes we play off our own back is grease and jive bunny but have been known to throw in beachboy gold by gidea park on the odd occasion
