1. What is your DJU Forum Alias? Big B

 

 

2. What is your Real Name, Age, Location & Marital Status? Buster Keanan 41 Lincolnshire married for 2 years

 

 

3. What is the Name of your Disco? Big B's Mobile Disco

 

 

4. How long have you been a DJ? just over 12 years on and off

 

 

5. What inspired you to become a DJ? when i was younger ( much younger ) i was at a birthday party and i was wayching the DJ at the party and wanted to do what he was doing and i love music.

 

 

6. Are you a Full/Part Time DJ? If part time what else do you do? part time, i have a wholesale wedding dress website, i am a wedding planner, we have a girls lingerie website i am also have a website design company.

 

 

7. What is your favourite type of function now? (eg: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, etc) Birthdays all the time ( adult though )

 

 

8. What's the worst/most embarrassing thing you've done in front of an audience?

i play games with the audience and 1 time i was about to start the drinking game ( that is the one where you put there socks over the drink ) and someone was at the party who had seen me do this at a previous party, now he and my wife decided to get me back and he came over took the mic from my hand and told everybody that i was going to be drinking one of the pints and he told them the reason why and the place was in up roars. ( i did drink the pint by the way )

 

9. If you could go back to the beginning of your DJ career is there anything that you'd do differently? (eg: The gear that you bought, the way you promoted/advertised yourself) no no no nothing to change

 

 

10. What do you feel you offer the public that convinces them to book you rather than "the next guy/girl"? i dont consider myself to be better or worse than the next dj, although i will say that i class myself as a personality dj due to the fact i play games and banter with the crowd and people remember me for that and i have also took booking on the night as people have enjoyed it.

 

 

11. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadn't? and why? No i am very careful with money and i wont spend unless i have to.

 

 

12. What's your next DJ purchase likely to be? Acme ImpossiLED

 

 

13. If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be? lighter equipment lol,

 

 

14. What was the worst equipment failure suffered during a gig? i had nearly set up in a park where they wanted me to play got my 1000wat amp and speakers ready to go all i had to do was plug them in my roadie was going on about something and i plugged the speaker cable into the wrong holes and BANG my amp went. lucky i was only 10 mins away from home had to go and get new amp.

 

 

15. What do you think is the best thing about DJing? making peoples night and seeing a full dance floor

 

 

16. What do you think is the worst thing about DJing? i cannot answer that realy because i love evry aspect of my job

 

 

17. What would make you stop DJing (if anything)? Death

 

 

18. How do you think DJing will change, in the next 5 years? i think everthing will be digital

 

 

19. Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig? are you irish ( that is after speaking to the person for 10 mins )

 

 

20. Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ? Keep going mate, ( that is because a wedding i was playing at there was a table of people you could not satisfy even if you were the best DJ in the world i was ready to go and have it out with the ring leader when a guy came up ( a DJ ) and said keep going mate you are doing a great job and we will sort that table out. He and some others did eject tham as they were making a fool of themselves

 

 

21. And worst advice you were ever given? not had any yet

 

 

22. How do you keep up to date with music? (eg Promo monthly CDs, Downloads, Purchase from retailer) CDs and downloads

 

 

23. Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill the dance floor for you! now your gone Basshunter, leona lewis Bleeding love ( Dance version ) Whigfield saturday night

 

 

24. One piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting out. Love your job dont do it just for the money

 

 

25. What medium format do you mainly use eg vinyl, CD, hard-drive? Both i have just started using my pc ( virtual DJ )

 

 

26. Have you embraced/adapted any ideas that you've read about on DJU - if so what? i do look through some of the pages where people have had problems and i think to myself well i wont be doing that then.

 

 

27. What is your best gig ever and your worst? Best ever was just last week i did a 12 hour wedding party and they played games took the mickey and i gave it back, and best of all the music SKA and Northern soul, not realy had a bad gig apart from the one above i have told you about.

 

 

28. Apart from 'Word of Mouth' what is your main (most successful) form of advertising your disco? My website as mentioned i am a web master so i optimise my own site to the best of my knowledge, i have also used Google adverts

 

 

29. Are you a member of a DJ Association / Union? NADJ, FSB

 

 

30. Add any additional comments which you would like to include here... Love this forum always come here if i need ant answers

 

 

31. How many gigs do you do a year, how many would you like to do? on average about 90-100

 

 

32. What is your average charge for a booking? we just like others have a sliding scale we start at £130.00

 

 

33. How many tracks do you have in your music collection? 80,000 ish

 

 

34. Have you ever had someone try to claim off you? (eg: Public Liability Insurance or other such legal action) Never

 

 

35. What is your favourite music genre? Soul, Motown, funk and northern soul

good read mate. was a little suprised at your floorfillers, but each to thier own. Im Now You're Gone is a little overplayed and is actually being placed on a don't play list!
