I remember my cousin taking me to the Woolwich McDonalds when I visited the family in the summer of '75 and being amazed at a burger tasting so good! And then I got to taste root beer for the first time. I still love root beer today and I will be taking delivery of 2 cases of the 'taste sensation' today! For those that haven't tried root beer, it tastes like 'Germoline' smells. If you don't know what that smells like, ask someone over 40! As for the burgers, I went off them 10 years ago. That's a very good point. My salary was higher than that 17 years ago, when I had a day job. Since then salaries for similar positions seem not to have increased that much and incomes in general seem to be fairly static. My wife has just secured a short term contract with the company from which she took redundancy last year. The pay is no higher than it was 3 years ago and the duties are increased. I used to work in magazine publishing. So does my wife and it may be that this particular industry is less lucrative than it once was.
