Last weekend i had a great night at my residency good atmosphere ect

Bit of a let down when i left to find 1 ambulance, 3 police cars & god knows how many coppers doing nothing

Just before they arrived a fight broke out...now a Sat night drunken punch up happens no matter where you are & usally its handbags at 30 paces

Tonight was different not only did this chap get knocked to the ground & knocked out they also stamped on his head

The chap is still in hospital, critical but stable & he does not know who his wife or child is

Dont these idiots know when to stop, at what point do they think applying the foot to another persons head will not hurt them

Thankfully it was all caught on CCTV and someone has been arrested.....funny thing is it was just after closing time approx 100 people outside but no witnesses :hurt:

And it'll get much worse before it gets better. i highly recommend investing in the ex-police flak jackets for sale on Ebay

Chances are, in the rare event that if the attacker does get caught, and charges are filed and the victim takes it all the way to court, some do-gooder will come along, pat them on the head and blame it on some childhood trauma, you would possibly have to be a repeat offender to the point where you had beaten up several people or broken into many houses before you got anything more punishable than a community service order!. Unfortunately we have created and live in a society which considers relatively minor offences such as smoking in a public place, low margin speeding offences, and driving a 4x4 to be more anti-social and punishable than actual physical crimes against each other.

I've said it before, pretty soon the only safe place to be will be prison, because it'll only be full of TV licence dodgers & those dangerous council tax evading pensioners and the real criminals will be still walking the streets.

too much beer, too big an attitude, and look at me i'm hard.

landlords have a legal and moral responsibility not to serve anyone who is drunk, do they uphold that? not on ur nelly the dont cos they lose money.

anyone who gets that :cense: they have to fight should be jailed instantly, release the grannies and fill the jails with the mindless violent thugs we have roaming our streets deliberately looking for a fight.

15yrs minimum no time off. this society places more value on money that it does peoples safety.

In my opinion national service is the answer, they want to fight, get them out there in Iraq and Afghanistan, once they are back they wont want to fight again.

They would have learned discipline, respect and order in the national services.

Look at that Bad lads army program they had, it worked! I saw a program the other day that revisited the first lot, some are in the forces, others have jobs and most of them now behave!

All i can say about this is national service should be brought back urgently.

So i guess youll ask....

1. Who will pay for the national service?

2. why train thugs to handle weapons?

3. Isnt this a bit extreme?

my answers...

1. The national service could be paid for itself, simply by reducing the need for army personnell, and by using them to do the work of the councils while they are here. Get them cleaning the streets and buidling roads, get them marshalling football matches and youll save the money that you would have been paying the army, police and councils.

2. You are training them to live a better life full of respect and discipline, you get the "thug" out of them

3. YES

Maybe it's time to lose the nanny state.

New York went for zero tolerance and the "3 strikes and you're out". It seems to be working there. Crime rates have dropped a lot now.

Equip the CPS with some normal people, and employ real solicitors/barristers rather than the school-leavers they seem to like to handle the cases at present.

And find judges & magistrates who have been on the receiving end of violence - that'd work I'm sure, as most seem to be living in cookoo land.

Extreme response is needed urgently - the Human Rights Bill was the worst thing ever to happen to our country, and as a result the police are powerless to approach and search the toe-rags causing the trouble.

Thanks Labour...

It was said on the radio earlier today, that apathy towards all of the political parties was at an all time high with most voters accusing them of all being as bad as each other. It was also said that any new party, with sensible policies towards reducing fuel prices and crime, controlling immigration, and investing in a better health and education system would have a better than average chance of getting in, even if it was the monster raving loony party.

Thus I propose the DJU party - fair doo's for all

i am sorry to say that the main problem is they are not afraid to get caught because the punishment does not fit the crime in this country. the police have there hands tied, the courts have nowhere to put them if they get that far. and the politicians are more worried about invreasing there own expenses than anything else. they have no bottle to stand up to europe and no bottle to get tough on crime, and they wonder why we don't bother to vote.

personally i would bring back capital punishment but at the very least would like to see life mean life (especially for those dj's without the correct license :dan+ju: )

You possibly say this in jest, but the penalties for these offences are already well policed and documented and an individual is already likely to be prosecuted for a crime against a corporation / government than for a crime of violence and theft.

For example the detection, and subsequent fine / prosecution is almost guaranteed for the heinous crimes of tv licence evasion and late payment of the community charge along with automatic fines and vehicle seizure if you just happen to be as little as 10 days late in paying for your tax disc, regardless of whether its a genuine oversight or not.

Perhaps if the same automatic penalties of imprisonment / similar fines were implemented in respect of the toe-rags causing nuisance on estates or stealing from Tesco or given to bouts of violence in the local pub, were implemented with the same interest and vigor then this country may become as great as it once was.

Unfortunately there always seems to be a lack of evidence when dealing with even known offenders, you know the type of people who are well known to the police and yet amazingly are still free to committ further crimes, and yet that same lack of evidence rarely appears if you get caught doing as little as 80mph on a motorway.

I propose that the police are issued with 'crim detectors'. Small handheld devices which are wielded outside pubs in every town centre and from civilians in small white vans. These devices immediately detect unsavoury characters up to no good, and send a notice of intended prosecution to their address. The 'crim' then has 28 days in order to incriminate him or herself on the notice and send it back, failure to admit the offence or respond to the NIP will result in higher penalties via the courts.

If the 'crim' commits 4 offences in 3 years then he /she goes to prison for 6 months under totting up. However for 'absolute' offences such as assault or carrying a knife then the courts HAVE to impose a minimum sentence of 1 or 2 years imprisonment. I honestly do not see any differential between the act of a 16 year old carrying a knife, and a driver driving recklessly. Both are deliberate actions, and both are acts which clearly endanger someones life, however no prizes for guessing that the 16 year old is more likely to be let off with a caution and the motorist will be the one in court.

A similar system is here and is currently working at prosecuting the motorist, so lets see the same philosophy being applied to other areas of crime.

Maybe a return of the pillory is required?

A barbaric sentence, but some members of society would really like to see some of the violent, murderous scum punished in a way they won't forget in a hurry.

I'd better explain why the pillory was considered parbaric in the extreme, to the point where its use was outlawed:

"It's only someone stood for a day with their head & wrists in a board!" I hear you cry;

Yes - that's the technicality of it, but the truth is, the more serious offenders were regularly blinded, and often killed by members of the public whist in the pillory.

A suitable form of justice perhaps, for the 18 year old who murdered a child?

Or the group of teenagers who beat an old man to death?

This country needs to get tough, and if this involves turning the judicial clock back a couple of centuries, then so be it.

OK, so now we have a fitting punishment available, we just need the politicians to make it legal and a judiciary to enforce and use it.

If you are with me, say "I"...

I

things wont change until the punishment starts to fit the crime, the punishment is enforced in full i.e life in jail to mean life in jail not we will put you inside for a few years then let you out so you can offend again.

also the people who are being punished realise they are being punished and we are not giving them something they can boast to there mates about.

judges are too weak politicians are not interested we have no chance
