Dukesy 0
If required to attend court, in front of a judge, could you produce the evidence to prove you're a professional DJ service? Examples of what you would use / present as evidence please!!! smile icon
analyst 0
The word "professional" is very subjective.
UKHero 0
the word professional used to mean you earned your living from it, if you earned part of your living from it you were Semi Pro, and if you earned no money from it you were Amature... The word professional is like the word Guarantee it has been taken to mean things it never originaly was intended to mean, The same as Gay is I guess.. To answer your question I would take my accounts showing this is how I earn my living so this makes me a professional DJ.... Dream Catchers 0
Accounts, diary, past tax returns, business cheque book. :poo: That counts me out :hide: only joking :bouncy: Jim
Dynamicdiscos 0
There are 13 different definitions of the word professional on Dictionary.com but the two that stand out to me are, following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain or a person who is expert at his or her work So I think my evidence would be proving that I earnt my living through my DJ'ing e.g. tax returns and business bank account ect and to prove I was an expert in my field maybe feedback and refferences from customers. Why don't we start making hellium filled bubble wrap?
It would help keep postage costs down.

oxela23 0
hi folks- apart from my intial hello post-im a newbie contributer- so hello again! yea the work professional congurs up alot of things for my i guess. as previously there is definately a beenfit of showing that your earning a legal living but i'd also be inclined to focus very much on producing as many cetificates to evidence that i have met corrct benchmarks standars of a professional wihtin this filed. This may include registration documents in association with "professional organisations", own codes of practice, pli- pat-scro -you get the drift, but not to forget my expert kwnowledge, allegedly your hounour, cos in that dock you're claim of prefesionalism would be backed up by the fact you can discuss all area's of the dj profession drawing from theroretiocal knowlwdge [the powering down sequence at the end of night is just one example but theres tons, in many different areas too]. And there also’ my honed skills- when people are not dancing - turn up the music really dam loud- :dan+ju: he he- that ota work -eh? awell that's ma blurb- just wanted to start gettin on the board man but might not see ya for 3-5 years :djuhi: !! alec-o

Dukesy 0
Signed booking agreements, a set of accounts - why the question? Have you been asked to prove this?? Nope. smile icon But in the likelihood that a DJ would be asked these days, it's interesting to see various view points and opinions. I know of a DJ who was asked a few years ago "So you're a professional DJ are you? Can you prove it?!" and the DJ volunteered his paperwork connected with being a sole trader / tax returns and all other paperwork associated. He had no licences then which of course wouldn't prove he was any more professional for holding.

x4cs 0
your honour, the term professional is too loosely accepted in society, therefore i do not use such a tag with regards to myself. i am a DJ and being a DJ is my second income and i aim to do the job to the very best of my ability . I have registered my DJ company "A N Other discos " with the shirts in london and i do not earn more than £4430 per financial year from my second income! tongue out icon

I dont understand why this question is being asked, is it in anticipation of trying to evade a band for a speeding offence, or for another criminal offence, just dont understand why a judge would want to know! Dukesy 0
Sorry to hear you can not sleep. I roughly get around 4 - 5 hours a night. If I'm lucky, 6...which probably explains why I'm such a lovely person in the mornings! I dont understand why this question is being asked The question I asked was "If required to attend court, in front of a judge, could you produce the evidence to prove you're a professional DJ service?". Same as: In front of a Judge presiding in a court, could you answer his or her question with evidence to support or prove that you are a professional DJ service? Read this post (same thread). The DJ I mentioned was fighting ICI who owed him money, and he won the case. There are all sorts of reason how one could end up in court. Use your imagination! smile icon
