Weekend 25th - 27th July 2008

Last Saturday's wedding at Burghley House, Stamford proved to be one of the shortest sessions ever.

Arrival time was 19:00 with first dance scheduled for 21:30-21:45.

At 19:00 guests were still having drinks and didn't go in to eat until 19:30.

It fell further and further behind schedule and at 22:30 people began to come out but into the gardens rather than inside.

Once eveyone was inside, the first dance was just before 23:00 and last orders were 20 minutes later.

At 23:40 I found out that I had overrun by 10 minutes and had to put on the last track, finishing

just after 23:45.

Managed a big finale to "Time Of My Life" with the groom lifting the bride several times to loads of cheering and applause from the guests.

Bride was delighted despite the short session.

I was disappointed with Saturdays gig.

1st Wedding I've (I say I, but hubby does gigs with me) done, Only got booked 6 days prior, because the person who was going to do it had given up.

First Dance was ok.

It was really warm in the hall, all doors open. People were either outside, propping up the bar, or sitting down drinking.

Bride had said she wanted a full dancefloor, well, all I can say is, we tried. If anyone requested a track, we'd put it on, they would dance then go back and sit down. The most we had dancing at any one time was 10 people.

Guests starting leaving at 9.30pm. By 10.30pm, majority of the tables had been cleared away. By 11.45pm there were 4 guests left.

I'm hoping this was just down to the heat. The groom did say that some guests had left early because the heat had got to them.

Did get a couple of the guests asking for cards, so I'm hoping to hear from them.

Put it down to experience I suppose.

They don't call me Krazy for nothing! Krazy by name - Krazy by nature !!!

Age doesn't matter, unless you're a cabinet!

Tonight - 50th Birthday Party near Stratford.

Should be able to play all the classics with a bit of luck.

Given it was probably? the hottest night of the year it was actually a really good night. They hated me because i kept the classics playing when they wanted to sit down and have a rest.

Click here for a bit of YMCA Action !!

... cheese i know, but it's what they wanted. Oh and the sound isn't really like that, it's the camera.

PS. i'm not sure how to embed Youtube so you will need to click ;-)

I was disappointed with Saturdays gig.

It means the good ones feel even better !!

Don't worry. I get a few like this. if you play what they want plus the classics then there is not much more you can do. The other thing is volume. I try not to play too loud because the people who want to talk will disappear somewhere else making the room look empty.
