Supradave 0
I DJ around the Reading area where there is quite a large Irish community. As a result I often get asked to play a bit of Irish music and through the years have developed about 30 minutes of what I refer to as Irish party music (Pogues, Van Morrison, Saw Doctors, Shamrock, more Pogues, Undertones, etc) which always goes down well (with the English as well as the Irish). While DJing at a wedding over the weekend and playing my Irish half hour some one asked me for a tune that they said had been at the top of the Irish charts for about the past 12 months and advised me that I should get hold of it as it goes down really well. Unfortunately to the combination of the volume of the music, the guys strong Irish accent and the fact that he had had a few drinks I could not make out the name of the song or the artist (although it sounded something like Tulula). Anyone got any ideas what the track is?
deejaymitch 0
Can't help you with that, although I will ask around. But I'd love to see the full tracklist for your Irish party set if you don't mind sharing. I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.

Hi Superdave Im not familiar with any track like that especially as a No1 our charts are fairly comparable with UK Listings apart from Maybe (Mundy - Galway Girl) i will give you link for official top40 over here http://www.rte.ie/2fm/charts/singles.html Shay
Paul Smith 0
Yep - Galway Girl is the one that immediately springs to mind (it's also used in a current cider advert)
Supradave 0
That could be the one as someone else came up a few minutes later and asked for Galway Girl. I assumed that it was an old track so looked through a few Traditional Irish Music CD's but could not find it. I think I had better get this track and add it to the others. Thanks for your help. deejaymitch 0
The version of Galway Girl on the cider advert is by Steve Earle. It's good but if you can get the version by Mundy it's far superior. I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Supradave 0
I think that I've found the track on an album by Sharon Shannon (I think it's a best of album). There appears to be two versions of it on the album one with Steve Earle and the other with Mundy. I have no idea who Sharon Shannon is but I notice that the track listed in the Irish Chart (thanks for the link) is Mundy with Sharon Shannon so I think I'll be trying to get that CD during the week. deejaymitch 0
Of all the tortured Irish poets and authors surely none have made as significant a contribution to culture on the Emerald Isle as Conal Gallen with his haunting epic "Horse It Into Ya Cynthia" I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services.
