Thanks, the fifteen years bit may explain why I had a serious proposition made to me the weekend before last, to spend the night at the hotel with one of the Bridesmaids. Shocked me to my core, but a massive ego boost when I got over my shock. Funny thing was, she wasn't drunk (she had had a couple of drinks though), and she was a really attractive girl in her mid to late 20s, I passed it off as a joke, but she was serious, even when I explained I was married she said not to worry, no strings and what she doesn't know wont hurt her. I apologised, thanked her for her really kind offer and said that I was happily married and wanted to stay that way.

In the car on the way home, i just kept thinking why would a much younger very (and I mean very) attractive girl want to spend the night with a fat (I am still overweight) 49 year old bloke?

Kinell!

There's hope for me yet, then.

But now comes the real trial - keeping that weight off.

Good luck with it - was there any secret involved (such as a health farm), or just eating sensibly?

Ahhh....could be the Bose! There's always a woman on the end of mine.....ahem *cough*! smile icon

Some women do go for mature guys....some women go for DJs....some women go for rich looking mature DJs and some just don't!

Great news!

May you have many more experiences and I hope you're 'new you' continues to be exciting!

Thanks all, Yep still around! Don't have the Bose L1s anymore though so it wasn't that, and I ain't rich, I spend it all on DJ and Camera gear!

My personality has changed since I lost the weight, I am a lot less inhibited and I made a point of having a laugh and a joke and went out and had a bop with the Bridesmaids during the event, I taught a few how to do the Macarena properly, and put them right on the Cha Cha Slide (its amazing how many people get that wrong RIGHT FOOT LEFT STOMP, LEFT FOOT LEFT STOMP, almost everyone does Right foot RIGHT STOMP WRONG!!!) So I think they just saw a bloke up for having a good time. I certainly wasn't out on the pull, and I'm not joking it really did shock me!

I lost weight tongue out icon

It was on a diet called Lighter Life, it costs a minimum of £66 a week and is a full food replacement program consisting of soups, shakes and bars, it also includes some psycological councilling to identify the triggers and reasons why you overeat. Since I started the diet 2 of my mates have also been on it, one here and one in Exeter. Although I have lost the most by far, all of us have lost a lot of weight, Nigel, has lost 6 stone and reached his target weight and has also completed the maintainance programme which lasts 12 weeks (this is where they wean you back onto food slowly) Gary Cee another member on here (occasionally) has lost about 4 stone and he started maintainance this week, I want to lose about another 2 stone yet.

I have also started playing squash again (a different kind of squash to what I played with the wife when I was almost 26 stone) 2 or 3 times a week, and I have started running/jogging 3 miles every other day and have applied to do the 2009 London marathon (maybe asking for sponsors soon!).

I will not pretend the diet is easy, but after the first two weeks it pretty much becomes habit and is a lot easier to do. When I started I was on a double dose of Blood Pressure tablets, and by BP was still 160/100, within 6 weeks I was off the tablets and my BP was 140/90, it was checked again this afternoon and it was 110/70. feel great, look better than I have for years, and the last time I was 15st 5lbs was in 1981, we cannot remember the last time I was under 15st, I suspect it was in my late teens or very early 20s.

Only thing I can say that has really helped me is to set yourself small acheivable goals, something you can attain within a 4-6 week timeframe, this stops you getting despondant and you can see the results.

I will say this though! NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FEELING SLIMMER AND NORMAL FEELS!

Well done Ed!

Having embarked on a diet myself .. which i am actually sticking to, its positive to see someone doing so well. Not sure I could do it the same way, I have tried many things in the past. This diet has rewards as it's easy to give up. As long as I STICK RIGIDLY to the diet, i can go out once a week and have beers.

So far it's working well.

Well done Ed!!!

As a fat git myself who is far too lazy to even think about losing weight, I have to take my hat off to you (although I'll probably break a sweat doing even that). That shows a hell of a lot of commitment.

I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.

Excellent!

Well Done Mr Bray!

Since i moved to Greece, ive lost alot of weight also. Think its something to do with eating properly. My only downfall at present is sometimes i get pecksh after work - sometimes 5am - But im trying to resist the temptation of fattening food, and just sticking to the greek salads.

Fly out to Crete next Thursday, then onto the cruise ship to travel around the Greek Islands. Hoping a don't put too much back on but am planning on having a great time.

Pity though Matt, don't go to Zante this trip, nearest is Kefalonia on the second week!
