I Need 'something Funny'

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a Wedding Breakfast at the end of the week and the Bride wants to make her entrance to 'Something Funny' although she can't think of anything yet.

I'd like to put some suggestions to her .....

Difficult to pitch really. Does she want a funny 'sing a long' or something that will make people bury their heads in their hands and hold their sides...such as a near the mark....or outright filthy songs from the likes of Kevin 'bloody' Wilson?

At first, I thought of Frank Carson...now he's Funny guy! :D He had a CD a while back - "It's A Cracker (30 Non Stop Irish Party Singalongs)" but that's all they are I believe - singalongs. I actually quite like the Red Rose Cafe song by the way Paul....but thats not important now!

Far short of playing "I want to break free - Queen (Album Edit - The Works) or Another One Bites The Dust" how about anything by the Chipmunks or Pinky and Perky, or Yesterday by The Beatles?

Is she blonde? How about Barbie Girl by Aqua? Is she older than the Groom? How about Toyboy by Sinitta?! If you want a more novelty take on things, how about the classic 'March of the Mods' or the Theme from Jaws? How about something from Grease? Peter Sellers - Any Old Iron? Mika? Benny Hill? Jasper Carrot? Tony Ferino? Val Doonican (sp)? The Goons?

Can you give us any more details???? smile icon

Not really - I haven't met with them as they live in England and although they are now over here it's 80 miles away and they are busy with all the other last minute stuff.

I am just looking for any ideas and I will present them to her and see what rocks her boat :joe:

The best one I have heard of is you tell all the audience that they want the theme tune from robbin hood it means so much to the both of them really build it up then play the old tv theme Robin hood Robin hood riding through the glen robin hood robin hood with his merry men etc.... Should cause a few laughs

Nik

oo thought of another one copacabana by Danny La rue

and another your the one that I want Arthur Mullard and Hylda Baker

Without knowing the "type" of people it is difficult.

As the B&G come in, play the Laurel and Hardy theme, the the groom can walk a bit funny :)

If it's geared more to the bride go for the David Rose Orch. - The Stripper, may raise a chuckle from everyone exept the brides father.

..playing all the hits for you...

....whether you may be....

Why can't I see what i going on???

Your a wedding dj at the top of your field, why pick brains... :dan+ju:

Cos I'm giving my brain cell a rest :joe:

Besides if we go down that route why have a forum

Seriously though it is one of those 'thrown in at the last minute' things and the more ideas the better - I'll let you know what is choosen and how it went after the weekend.

Had a couple of weddings last year where the bride was american and if you look at a few videos on you tube they are really in to this sort of thing.

The first one I did, I played some upbeat swing for the parents, best man, bridesmaids etc etc and then went in to Here Comes The Hotstepper )can't remember who done it) for the bride and groom. They came in with boxing gloves on and bright coloured boxing robes with mr and mrs on the back of them. Was a good night!

The second one again introduced all the different family members to some upbeat swing music and when the bride and groom came in, started playing a nice slow song and then cut it off to go in to Its Like That by Run DMC.

They had velcro'd clothes on and ripped them off to reveal scruffy jeans and tee shitrts, put caps on and proceeded to street dance...very funny seeing everyones faces as they had kept it secret from everybody.

So sometimes it works and other times it doesn't

Just in from this one - she choose The Benny Hill Theme. It worked really well with everyone clapping along & cheering as they made their entrance. Thanks for the suggestions

On the same theme my couple yesterday chose Gonna Fly now - the Rocky Theme which had a very similar response to yours, also halfway through the F.O.B speech, we had a snatch of YMCA (the Bridegroom's only contribution to the day was to ban it) to show who was going to wear the trousers, which also had punters up and dancing!

There is a song by the rolling stones which is called "Biggest Mistake, or , Greatest Mistake" which i was once asked to play at a wedding as a joke on the Bride and Groom.
