Fx Lab Diffraction Laser

I went into my local DJ store and the owner has got in some FX lab diffraction lasers G018ED I believe these are soundlab products, he said they are similar to the Kam and equinox effects but cheaper these are £145 ish and he demonstrated it in the shop..The effects are brilliant i was very impressed but i am still not certain about the safety of these

 

The spec says 523nm / 50mW Green and 650nm / 100mW red over 500 beams it has dmx and sound activated modes it is a class 3 b laser and i have read the HS (G) 95 radiation safety used for display purposes having never used a laser i was thinking a diffused laser would be my best option and this seems a great bargain so whats the catch?

I bought it from there !! It is brilliant but too big an effect i feel for the little pubs i have a residency in(i cant even set up a 4ft goal post stand in my local i just set up on a small table in a corner)

I will use it at functions , i am well chuffed with it , it is amazing for the money , has massive coverage doesn't hurt you eyes and is different for £145 it was a steal. the trouble with the big LED is ..its BIG lol

I like the effect but that hanging from the lighting bar and i wouldn't be able to see the audience..lol I also put all my lights in cases and the case for that mother of a light would be massive..lol i think a NJD chaos is physically big enough really for me as a mobile dj and try to get lights around that size for ease of transportation ..BUT that big LED is impressive so i might buy it.. arent us djs supposed to make a profit i am not as i keep buying stuff!!

 

I really like that shop its how shops used to be little shop owner pottering about offering advise and demonstrations shame we all flock to the big boy with lower prices but hey i digress

he's been shut for weeks too. i set up on a small corner in my residency but i reckon i could site that led somewhere else lol. it was an amazing pattern it threw out. really impressed.

 

i'm like you spend spend spend, but i dont get too many gigs where i roll out all my stuff lol.

 

ps, wouldnt give ya tuppence for the one on stamford st in ashton, cant say its name lol.

There are some shops in our area (which will remain nameless)where you walk in and they do not acknowledge your existence and look at you like you should not be in there shop.

i have been genuinely ready to buy with cash in my pocket and they just don't want to talk or help at all and then they wonder why sales are down!!

 

I worked in Hi-fi separate sales for years and i know that if someone walks into a shop that sells specialised stuff they are

interested in the gear out of curiosity or thinking about buying something or checking out what's new or checking out prices .....just saying can i help you? will result in a no answer 90% of the time even if they do need help as people are terrified of being sold stuff..lol

 

saying " so your into music then?" or something equally as general gets a totally different response and i have had many a good chat with customers and found out what they were looking for or interested in and sold lots of gear because i asked in a non pushy way...totally ignoring customers is just wrong.

 

The shop i bought the laser from is a good old fashioned shop a bit scruffy but has loads of character and a very helpful owner

 

still excited about using it at a christening do later this month

its dmx'able too, have you tried it on dmx or just the built in patterns/

no sorry only used the built in patterns , i have seen a video on You tube where some one dmx'd a similar one , but i think the built in sound to light is very good and the sensitivity (which is controllable)and response time is excellent.
