Paul Smith 0
Lots of rain yesterday so I left early for my wedding gig. Tuned in to a local radio station 'Police are advising everyone to stay off the roads unless their journey is absolutely essential' the DJ announced. I thought that a wedding I had been booked for over 3 years ago fitted the criteria tongue out icon Well managed the trip with 25 mins to spare - few dramas on the way, a landslide on the motorway, water bubbling up through the tarmac, a couple of floods to go through but got there in one piece. On arrival I thought the place was extra busy as there were cars along the side of the driveway. As I turned the corner I found out why - the adjacent river had burst its banks and the car park was under a foot of water (later rising to 2 feet). My function was on the 1st floor so no problems there although the patrons at the wedding on the ground floor were looking a bit concerned. :scared: I was bombarded with questions from guests - What's it like out there? Will we be able to get home? I told them that things were not too bad and the forecast was that the rain would soon ease. Unfortunately a lot of them decided to go home straight after the dinner and so we were left with about half the initial guests. There was also a swing singer on and things were going well until his last number when the venue lost all power. Ten minutes later it was restored and the rest of the night went without a hitch. By this time the rain had stopped, the water level in the car park had receeded and I thought my journey home would be pretty straightforward. Anyway on the way back I drove through one of the deepest floods I'd ever encountered. Abandoned in the middle of it was the swing singers van and I did think that I would be joining it. The water was coming right over the top of the bonnet, I thought someone was behind me flashing their lights but it was mine and TBH I was bricking it. I think I got through by sheer luck - the car was juddering quite a bit and did so for several more miles. The rest of the floods I encountered after that were a breeze and I got home shaken but with my reputation for reliability intact smile icon Not something I'd like to repeat in a hurry though. Mattaious 0
And it juddered for a little while? Nothing like getting an engine to try and compress water lol Juddering probably caused by water ingress to the clutch area - normally through the clutch fork area.

Just been out to look at the car and I've lost most of the engine cover that used to be under the front - presumably to protect the engine from water?
