Dukesy 0
Has anyone worked at The Blag Club, Notting Hill, W11, London? I have been asked to do a gig there in December. Have spoke to the staff/manager on the phone - any views or comments on the 'system' there, parking, friendlyness, etc. Cheers Dan DD Edited August 16, 2004 by discodirect

Dukesy 0
The Blag Club - 4/10. Very, very poor parking - 2 metered parking bays on the high street. Access via a small door entrance and steep staircase with no landing. One entrance - one exit. The 'Club' is above a high street shop. The staff are very friendly and polite. HOWEVER.... The 'dance floor' is dangerous. The management will advise not to excite the crowd for fear of falling thru the floor. Also, there is no 'dance license'. The installed 'sound system' has decks and dual CD players, located at the end of the bar. Not the best of installs, but workable. You 'area of work' is behind the bar with the bar staff, located underneath a very large ceiling mounted extractor fan (chilly). There is standing room only - don't think about bringing more than 1 bag of records or a CD folder. If you took a laptop and plugged into the mixer - you'll be fine. (Also, you can keep an eye on the motor outside via the window which is handy) The venue may be ideal for hosting a chill-out session or small gig for around 50-60 guests, to be comfortable. Mens toilets prone to regular flooding from urinals, apparently. The venue caters for 'home-made-food'....
