I dont use sax n dotty or any other win amp based karaoke hoster but

The usual reasons are

File types

if they are not all the same file format ie MP3+G or some are zipped MP3+G etc etc

Naming

It depends if they are all named correctly sometimes on zips the file is named correctly but the internal files are not

some software requires id tags to be very specifically done i have a friend who does use sax n dotty so if you dont suss it i will ask him

Good luck

Its better to have all your files tagged correctly.....

e.g. SF001-01 - Abdul, Paula - Straight up

Disc, Track, Artist, Song Title.

If any are not named in this format then they will cause you problems sooner or later.

They can be named a different way, but they must all have exactly the same name format.

Use KJ PRO and CDG Content Renamer, makes it really easy to ensure the names are kept consitant.

I used my OTS AV PRo karaoke software for the first time last night and have to say it was floorless, every track played correctly and I didnt have any hitches.

Motherwell I would 100% recpmmend purchasing this software its one of the best in the market and wont let you down. Not only is the Karaoke addtion superb but the DJ software is also the ultmate DJ tool in my eyes.

The only negative i see for OTS AV PRo is that it converts Karaoke files to its own file type this means that if you leave the originals on the hard drive that you are doubling up on the files.

I use a similar karaoke software that converts standard MP3+G to its own format and i believe the advantage and why they do this , is for more reliable playback just like OTS AV but it does eat up HD space!

but i too have only heard good things about OTS AV

As far as karaoke goes I think the biggest drawback is there is no key change facility on Ots AV

i believe that OtsDJ Version 1.75.008 Released on 15 November 2006 added this

"This new MAJOR release introduces Automated Beat Mixing (Ots Labs BeatMorph Technology™), High-quality Time-scaling (Ots Labs ClearScale Technology™), a host of other features, as well as compatibility with two major new modules - the OtsDJ Video Module (Ots Labs TrueSmooth Technology™) and the OtsDJ Karaoke CD+G Module.

# Time-scale CD+G to any speed right down to stationary and up to double-speed.

# Change the key of a track, with a combination of the pitch slider and time-scale slider. "

Achieveable but not practical, it's a shame that even most dedicated karaoke software uses sliders for key change when a simple push button for up and down is much more easy to use as on karaoke hardware players

Just to add my two pennorth (as my dad would say), I would highly recommend Virtual DJ. Does karaoke (mp3+g), mpeg video, and of course mp3 audio. Brilliant programme, I use it for every gig, whether it's a disco or karaoke.

Have a look here.
