Hi guys..

Have finally got round to uploading the updated file (need to) as advertised on here and via the email i got (V1400)

However, I can't seem to upload it on to the Denon.. It says that i have uploaded the version 1004.....

although the Bin file that i am using is the one from the denon website saying that it is 1400

I have tried doing both by USB and copying the Bin file directly onto the Denon...

Any ideas???

Jon

Anyone???

I downloaded mine via a 1gb memory stick.

Just copied it from my desk top

Not sure is this of any help not being a full on techie.

Try a search on the Denon Forum if no joy

Thats where I have got most of my info from.

The manual you might as well through in the bin.

Good luck

I have tried every which way possible...

on memory stick and direct onto the root of the HD2500..

Both in subfolders and not...

Just to add insult to injury.. I scanned the internal drive last night too... It WIPED the drive...

I really am not a happy bunny at the mo.

Ok...

Thanks for Marky Mark for some input and non dodgy updated firmware....

However.. next issue has arisen!

I have bought another external hard drive as a back up...

Guess what.... I can't seem to get it to format in FAT32... Mr Woolworths why did you have to stop selling CD singles...

Is this because of vista??? Anyone reccomend software to format my new ehd???

Why can't i just buy something that is already ready to use?? Why do i have to keep faffing about to use this bloody HD2500??? Yes, if i sound shirty it is coz i am.....

I already have a Maxtor E HD... So, why can't i use my new Maxtor EHD???

Advice and guidance appreciated before i sell the bloody thing and quit the whole industry...

This use to be a user friendly industry... now i am afraid to say.... you have to be a techno geek to actually use the stuff.

wow, you are using 1004? that's the first and now super old version.

Try this instead.

When you set the player to UPDATE mode, plug in the thumb drive afterwards instead of at power up, wait 10 sec, then push Cue (on the right deck).

If it takes, then your in biz.

You should be using Music Manager 1.2.3. as well.

After the update, you MUST and stress must create a new database with the player or with MM 1.2.3. for all music drives in use with the HD2500

Once you get your Hd 2500 latest firmware loaded and you will I had all sorts of probs myself but just stick with it trying this and that and generally buggering around.

You can format your drive to fat 32 with the HD 2500.

Believe me it works.

Just got to stick with it and search the Denon hd2500 forums you will find most answers on there.

Never had any problems with mine. Updated to 1400 a few weeks ago and uploaded my latest database with zero problems to report.

The manual you might as well through in the bin.

I've found the update manual to be pretty helpful to be honest, never really sat there wishing it was more clear. What do you find wrong with it ?

Update manual was ok

The owners manual that comes in the box was not very helpful just skims over stuff. That was the one for the bin

Learnt a lot of the set up on the forums and the you tube clips (good for new users)

Have found Denons backup very good always someone to help you out on the forums.

Guys and Girls...

Firstly, a belated thanks for all your posts, phone calls, msn messages etc... They have been most graciously received...

However, the reason for the delayed response on here is that i had possibly the worst Saturday of my life this last weekend (in DJ terms..)..

Following all the issues i have had, this weekend just topped it...(read below)

After all the issues in uploading the firmware update, and speaking to certain inidividuals that have been helpful beyond belief, i went out to purchase another external hard drive, just to back up the one that i have..

This was following the Internal Hard Drive being wiped whilst it was being scanned.. Yes, you did here that correctly... all gone, woooosh. thankfully only around 20gb worth of songs lost, the majority of which i have on cd...

Anyway, as you may know from another post.. I then couldn't format the new external hard drive to Fat32 (still can't by the way..)

Wait, gets better.....

I then went to check that the couples first dance was on the ext hd so as to be sure for that evenings gig..

And this is where the disaster starts..

1) The Denon started to tell me that there was no internal hard drive again, after turning on and off a few times, it managed to recognise it...

2) I couldn't find the song i wanted on the ext hard drive (positive that it was on there) and the denon kept telling me that any file i tried to play "can't access file".... I started to panic a little, so i plugged the ext hd back into the computer and loaded up music manager. Sure enough.. It kept saying that "the music's piece doesn't exist..."

I should at this point tell you that i have been using this external hard drive for over a year now..........

So why all of a sudden are the files non exsistent (even tho they show up - but not play)

3) I then realised that tracks were not relating to artists etc... Ie, I would look at Ce Ce Peniston and see that the track beside it was 'Antmusic' quite obvisouly not by Ce Ce Peniston...

So, panicking, i put the ext hd back into the denon.

and the same happened.... I would search for an artist and a song completely not related to that artisit would come up , or i would be told 'can't access file'........

By now it is 5pm and my roadie had already had to leave for the venue.... Seriously i could have sat there and cried... 9836 songs now all of a sudden completely unavailable (which were the previous day).

I managed to work a fairly good evening based on the few essential and emergency cd's that i carry, but as you can imagine, was extremely upset, frustrated and wanting to toss the Denon and ext hd as far as i could into the sea (which was very near by and very tempting)....

Can anyone shed anylight on my problems.... I really am so annoyed and upset... All this in the space of 3 days....

Is it something to do with vista? Or perhaps have a completely duff unit...

Anyone Help...............

Please.

Jon

Although you said you have been using the external hard drive for over a year, how long have you had the Denon?

Is it under warranty?

Have you PM'd or emailed Gary or contacted Denon UK during office hours for advice? They may be able to give you an answer about 'Vista' and any other compatibility problems?

Why not contact SEDA if you are in the South East area. I'm sure someone there can help / offer technical advice.

Have had the HD2500 since May 07....! and the Ext HD since June 07....

Denon Uk is my next port of call...

But am very very concerned about all the tracks on the Ext HD

Splosh,

I had exactly the same problem. Scared the brown stuff outta me!!!

There's a really easy fix though, you just need to delete the database folder from the HDD and then create a new database from Denon's Music Manager software. If you are using V1400 on the HD2500 then make sure you are using the latest version of DMM on the PC. It's always safer to rebuild the database after performing any firmware upgrade.

Hope that helps

Paul

Yes was just about to post this..

when you upgraded the firmware you need to delete the data base and make a new one using the latest version of the software...
