Edbray has the 525's I believe. He posted a review on here a while back.

RCF have just bought out a new range too the ART7 series announced at PLASA 08 which might be worth waiting for them to get to the shops ?

The specs look meaty and along the lines of the 522, 525.

Pretty robust stuff, several mobiles around here use them and a couple of bars have the powered ones dangling from the ceiling with no problems.

thanks are they worth the extra lay out over a mackie system ?? thanks

I have the ART525As and they are amazing, I sold my twin Bose L1 outfit and have never regretted it.

I tend to mainly use the pair of them on their own, but for the bigger gigs have used them on top of a pair of ART705A subs, 3kw+ RMS and sounds amazing, but you need a very big hall really.

As for the 'Are they better than Mackie' ? No question about it, and I have had SRM350s and SRM450s. Not cheap, but you do tend to get what you pay for!

I have now bought a pair of 522a and 1 x 705 powered sub ( need to wait a few weeks for the second on ) and i am blown away by these. The sound is so very clear and matched up against my Double 15 Ev's with an mc2 e25 amp the power is clear and huge and the sub bass stunning. Will be interesting when i add another sub but even with 1 the sound is so full its surprising from such a small easy to move package.

Thanks to anyone esp Edd who gave some quality advise. Devon Mobile Disco

Hi DMD.

How do you rate these units on their own. I am using Mackies at the moment and they get bit hot and am looknig for something i can take out on their own mostly. I have an AS705 sub but i want to only use that for BIG gigs. I'm thinking of the 522s as a compromise on size, power and SQ.

They are expensive i know, but i can sell my mackies to fund part of it.

I use these on thier own for karaokes and they really hold there own, they blow away my ev sx 100a and to be honest i prefer these to my double 15 i force used with an mc amp e25 - although on thier own u loose a tiny amount of bass from the double 15;s they realle have a super sound, i did look at the mackie v 2 and these were so much better. this weekend i did a gig with a band who had 2 x srm 450 and the 1501 sub and blew them away not just power but overall clarity and headroom. I hope this helps.

Forgot to mention they do not get hot and are so very light you would not believe how easy they are to put on stands. i watched the band use 2 people on the srm 450s and giggled as mine floated uo the stand

2 people! i'm sorry, but they are not THAT heavy! I suppose it is a bit difficult to locate the hole for the stand.

Did you say you were using just the 522's vs the 1501/450 combo ?

Basically I want to get to a situation where I don't need to take the sub with me anymore apart from very large gigs. I do a little social club (120 capacity) at the moment and I have to take the sub because the Mackies get hot and have once overheated (I was pushing them REALLY hard though).

I just want something I can throw in the car easily and i'm done rather than Krypton Factor packing to get it all in with the sub.
