superstardeejay 0
I used to have the Citronic Pro10 which is the 'short' version of the CDM10.4; the blue deck with red illuminated cue buttons. First thing I noticed was the audio quality which was a little 'warm'. I also had the scratchy sliders, they do get a bit better after alot of use. The most annoying thing was that the front panel screws kept undoing themselves no matter how hard I tightened them! One of the mic channels would pick up local radio and I had to fit an HF filter capacitor. And after a couple of years one channel would suddenly dip in output (go lop sided) unless I banged it. In the end I sold it and bought the Denon which I've had ever since. (I actually exchanged the first Denon because one of the faders was duff out of the box). We used to repair alot of the Citronic CDM10.4's for a main dealer, most were either blown up or had duff faders. Neither probably the mixers fault; this was in the pre-Skytronic days when Citronic were their own company still at Melksham. (thought made in China). I can't comment on the reliability of the Skytronic 'Citronics'. .
Andy Westcott 0
...most were either blown up or had duff faders. In what way had they blown up? What component had actually failed?
superstardeejay 0
Op amps short circuit, muting transistors open, tracks blown,. diodes short..electrolytics bulged..the whole caboodle! I've had that with most mixers really, possibly a user plugging the ouput into the speaker jacks of his amp? I dunno, I'm never there when it happens... .
Andy Westcott 0
So not a design fault then. At least, not with the mixer... Thank goodness for that!
superstardeejay 0
Nah not a design fault. You'll be ok I'm sure..I guess you look after your equipment as you've shelled out for it yourself! I agree if a mixer is installed and is likely to be drenched in beer by careless resident DJ or leery customer then a disposeable one is the way forward! http://www.csound.gr/photos2/mixers/cdm10.4.jpg . Kingy 0
http://www.csound.gr/photos2/mixers/cdm10.4.jpg For the mobile, personality type jock this is a great mixer. I sold many of them when in retail with a very small return factor. Dale still uses one. Too big for my console.
Mattaious 0
Used to use the Citronic 10:4 when i DJ'ied in the uk and i swore by it. When i moved to greece, i sold alot of my gear and put the rest in storage - one piece of kit i decided to keep The Citronic. I only had 1 problem with the mic input but this was resolved by cleaning the contacts......
Andy Westcott 0
And having 2 dedicated mic channels is useful if the client wants to make a snappy announcement/speech. Having now messed about a bit with this mixer (It still hasn't been switched off since Friday) one little annoyance has reared its head - the headphone monitor. You can either monitor the output, a cue channel. or a mix of the two (for beat mixing assistance). All well and good so far. The trouble is, when you turn the pot to 'cue' only, the VU display then switches to cue channel only, meaning if you leave the headphones in this position all the time (as I normally do) you have no bloomin' VU display! Not a major issue, but having to juggle a pot everytime you listen to a cue channel is an annoyance and an extra duty to perform. My trusty old Numark had a seperate cue VU display. Oh well. tongue out icon
superstardeejay 0
A mate of mine got rid of his for just that reason...he couldn't live with that pot. (he's on this forum and I expect him to chip in any time!!) The standby unit I mentioned earlier was an AM7 which has a slide pot for this function and after the first week another DJ had snapped it off..hey ho. .
